I just returned from a funeral where I saw many relatives that I have not seen for some time.
Some comments aimed my way:
"Wow, you are quite the hippy these days."
"Is this a mid-life crisis?"
My retort on the spot:
"I've been growing my hair long on the inside of my head for such a long time, that I thought it was time to let it grow on the outside. Allows me think more clearly. It frees up my brain."
While the retort was unconsidered, hasty, and oft repeated, I actually think it is somewhat true .....
Nice metaphoric phrase,I'm def using it when asked these kind of stupid questions.
haha, i like that!
kind of sad though that at a funeral and after not seeing you for a long time, they give you a hard time about your hair.
Hey, lifobryan. Great retort! Keep it growin' and flowin' and out of your brain.

Great Retort! I never heard that one before.

Nice come back!
It's so true. Most of us had short hair, but deep inside wanted long hair. Literally we always had it growing in our minds anyway. Why not put it on the outside for all to enjoy!

Good grief! Have people nothing better to say than nag someone about their hair length at a funeral? They deserved your retort.
Good one. It defends you and casts aspersions on their intelligence without even being rude!
I found that to be a great retort. Nice!
Mid-life crisis? People usually do drastic things like CUT their hair short if they are going through such a thing.......truly long hair is not trendy due to the time it takes to grow and thus it's not a "crisis" decision either.
...and one would have to be woefully ignorant to think that only hippies have had/have/can have long hair.
Well Said!
