Hey I have this problem with my hair, it is long and curly passed my shoulders. It seems to be dry and oily at same time. My hair gets pretty frizzy, and from what I read its good to use a moisterizing shampoo and conditiner for my hair type. So ive been using Aussie Moist shampoo and conditiner for quite some time, but it seems after I shampoo and condition by the next day my head feels itcy and it gets real oilly and stiff on my scalp and sometimes even some strands of hair. I usaully have to wash everyday because of the oil. Even when I just shampoo it still seems to get oilly. But at the same time my hair seems dry and frizzy. Is it a possibility its the shampoo and condition im using making it too oilly. I also only use a small ammont of shampoo, and only condition ends. Any advice or recommendations?
Use a "clarifying" shampoo to get out all of the scalp oil. Then use the conditioner you already have. I use original green Prell shampoo. I get a lot of scalp oil, and it does a good job getting it out. It is a basic shampoo without all the extra stuff most shampoo has.
hi brian,
it sounds like the shampoo is drying out your scalp & your scalp is producing more oil to compensate. your hair length seems dry & frizzy because of the frequent shampooing. you want a shampoo that gently cleanses the scalp, but doesn't strip it, or your hair.
have you tried moisturizing shampoos w/o sls (sodium laury sulfates) they can be too drying for some scalps, or conditioner washing (cw) washing your hair with just conditioner. you might try products by aubrey organics (all natural, non-sls products) or ouidad (specializes in curly hair, but her shampoo has sls).
