Sorry for not being as active lately, but don't worry I'm still an active hair grower.
Last couple of months I changed my routine, the only time I comb my hair is when I'm in the shower and my hair is fully conditioned.
I use verry little shampoo and a lot of conditioner.
Because of this my waves are now very well defined instead of my hair being a big poofy mess. I've got some sort of loose dreads now. Sleeping with my hair in a ponytail helps a lot too, this prevents my hair from being one big mess in the morning. When I wake up my hair is still ok.
Another thing which has changed is that I stopped looking at how long my hair is a lot. For my feeling I've arrived at longhair right now I've only gotto let it grow. Haven't decided on a final lenght yet, I will see how I like each lenght I reach.
Vincent
Hey, Vincent. You've made great progress in the last 16 months. Your hair looks great. Keep it growin' and flowin', and have a Happy 2009.
TLH
Hi, I've made a lot of progress indeed that difference from one year ago is awesome. I wish you a happy 2009 too.
Hey Vincent,
You're hair is coming right along and it looks awesome, however you've changed your routine, it's clearly working out very well for you; keep it up!
-Austin
Hi Austin, great to hear from you thanks for the compliment.
Hey Vincent,
Good to hear that you've found a routine that works for you. You've really made a lot of progress since we saw you in Amsterdam. Keep it growing, and stay well, buddy. =)
-James
Hi James, yeah other people tend to notice the progress more then I do myself. Of course I will keep it growing.
Hi Vincent,
It's great to see that you are an active hair grower and we can see that from this update. I'm glad the change of hair routine has helped and you hair does look in very good and shiny condition. We if you feel that you are longhaired that's certainly a great milestone to pass. Keep it growing mate.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John,
Thanks for your comment.
I'm happy with the routine it makes it a lot easier.
Didn't even thought about it as a milestone but your right :)
Hi Vincent, the hair is looking gteat andf you have some good length there.
Frank
Hey Frank,
Thanks for your comment, yes it's finally starting to get really long.
Hi Vincent. Your hair is coming along nicely. By the way, I only see the waves near the ends of your hair. If I were you, I would frequently comb my hair to pull out any dead hairs that would otherwise tangle up with my hair.
Matthew aka Regardless
Thanks Matthew. Your right the weight of my hair pulls out the waves on top so they are only visible at the end.
Hairs I shed are caught in the loose dreads and I get them out when I shower. This works good for me, tangles I do have slip out easy with the conditioner.
If I comb my hair when not in the shower I comb out the loose dreads and my hair tangles easier. I also like the ringlets more than the poofy hair which combing gives me.
Everyone's hair is different this works best for me.
Hey Vincent,
You've certainly got great quality hair. It looks to be in fantastic condition so your current routine seems to definitely be working.
How do you generally wear it when you go out?
Jason
Hi Jason, great to hear that from you.
Most of the time I wear it in a low ponytail, to keep it neat because I don't comb it. Plus it's not long enough to wear it loose comfortable especialy when I'm active. Still get's in my face a lot, with more lenght I hope it will stay on my back when I wear my hair loose. Guess that will take another year.
Looking damn good,Vincent, you're certainly making outstanding progress!Keep it up!
Thanks for your compliment Rafael, yes my hair keeps getting longer and longer can't wait for what this year will bring me.
Wow Vincent! Past the shoulders I see. It looks excellent and your well past officially having long hair. How long are you planning on growing it? Looks great man, been looking forward to an update from you.
-Phil
Hey Phil, thanks for your comment.
Yes my hair in the back and sides is past the shoulders, my bangs are about touching my shoulders. Can't wait before all my hair will be past my shoulders.
My original goal was at least shoulder lenght and a full ponytail, the first of those is done and I can almost make a complete ponytail.
From there on I will just let it grow and see how I like it, I think I will go for midback lenght.
The first year I made an update every month, right now I update every two months. So I you're looking forward for the next look at the board around 12-03 for my 18th month update.
Hey Vincent
Your long hair is looking spectacular!!!!!!! And, the colour is fabulous!
Yes, you are truly arriving when looks in the mirror all the time slow way down as you now KNOW that your hair IS getting long. So glad you have found a routine that works best for you. God news for sure.
My best to you Vincent and thanks for posting this update of such inspiration to us all.
Justin~
Hi Justin thanks for your compliment,
Always good to hear from you, I've enjoyed your movies (for men with longhair)
I'm glad I can serve as an inspiration for others, that's what everybody here has been doing for me the past year.
-------------------------------------------
Your hair looks perfect, Vincent. Your current hair care routine works well for you. Your hair appears to be at least 30 centimeters long now, very long for only 16 months. That would be super fast growth. How long was it 16 months ago? (I am guessing that you did not start with a buzz.)
As for a final length, just let it grow. Waist length would look nice, but can be quite a challenge those who are tall. (From the few images I saw from awhile back you appear to be in the 190cm range.) To reach your waist, your hair has to be about 1/3 of your height. Happy growing.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Looks can be deceiving, I didn't touch my hair since I started so the diffirent layers blend together making it look longer than it is. My hair is about 24cm long so that is avarage growth with 1,5cm a month.
I started with almost buzzed hair and short spikes on top, you can see a picture over here: http://www.mlhh.org/archive/?240274
I will let my hair grow as long as I like it, so it's not unlikely that I will reach waist lenght one day. But only if I like it else I will settle on a shorter lenght.
I'm 185 btw so waist lenght would be 61cm , that would take me two more years from now.
15 millimeters per month is still faster than average growth. 12 to 13 is average for most people. Thanks for sharing the series of photos. Now that I see them, I do remember.
Waist length hair isn't for everyone. (Mine is super long with a ponytail a meter in length.) It does require more maintenance. The length that is easiest to maintain is around shoulder blade to mid back. For this reason, many longhair men, and women, keep their hair at this length. For you to maintain your hair in that length range, you would need 2 9cm trims per year.
Scott
If the maintenance get to much work I will probably settle around that lenght, but before that maybe I will try to grow it longer.
Wow! I've been lurking for a long while and I've seen your 10 month update post. I have a really similar type-hair to what you did at that length. Hope mine looks that good in a few months. It really looks long now. Congratulations!
Yes the difference from 10 months to now is really great, I'm sure you will see the same results over time. Thanks :)
Hi Vincent,
Thank you for sharing your fabulous update with us, and you have made wonderful progress for 16 months of growing. Your hair is thick and healthy, and filled with shine. Keep up the great growing!
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Thanks for your nice words!
Wow, Vincent, your hair definitely got much longer since your last update. Looks great so far! Keep growing.
Hegg
Thanks Hegg,
Yes it did, and it will only get better and better from now on.
Looks great--the changes in your routine have sure worked out for the better.
I also think your hair looks better when it's not tucked behind the ears.
Take care,
Chris
Thanks Chris, I also think it looks better but the hair get's in the way all the time so it's easier to wear it tucked.
Oh yeah I totally understand--I keep my somewhat-shorter hair tucked frequently for the same reason. I'm used to seeing your avatar picture all the time and I was struck by the difference between that and your recent pictures.
Chris
Hey Vincent:
Well you have made it definitely to longhaired status and it is looking very good indeed...and it's in great condition. You are well poised for much further length...well done. You are good inspiration.
Cheers,
Max
Hey Max,
Thanks for your comment, I'm glad that I can serve as an inspiration to others now.
Very, very nice! The waves look great!
Mouse
Thanks, they do I really like my new routine it makes my waves more defined.
Hey Vincent, Great Hair!!For 16 months that's excellent progress and as a bonus it looks well cared for all through the length.Sounds like you've fallen into a good routine so your mid back hair will look ACE when you get there.Lookin' very cool my frien:)
Mark
Hey Mark,
Thanks for your compliment, I'm glad to hear everyone likes my hair so much. Can't wait till it's even longer.
Hi,
that looks really good. I know these problems with puffyness too good myself. Good to hear that you could solve it with conditioner. thats in my opinion one of the main problems on the way becoming a longhair (with thick hair).
best regards from germany
L.
Hi Leto,
Thanks, yes the akward stage can be hard but I knew that one day I would like it so I just stuck with it.
Didn't listen to opinions of others.
Looks excellent Vincent, its really coming on well and fast too!!
Cheers Dave
Thank you Dave,
Yes it starting to look really good and I'm pleased with the progress :)
Looking better with every update Vincent!
- Oren
Thanks Oren, your hair is looking great too!
Hi Vincent.
I too would say you've arrived at longhair. Now just enjoy it as it grows and you have the right idea about waiting and seeing how long you will want it to be.
Take Care
Kevin
Thanks Kevin,
Didn't even took that long when I look back at it.
Of course I will enjoy being a longhair :)
I like that look. You can see each lock of hair and no frizz in between. Hmmm, I might try that routine myself.
Paul
Thanks, I've been expirimenting all the time until I found this worked the best. It reduced a lot of the frizz but with wavy hair you can never be frizz free. My hair looks the best when it's still wet from showering or after a few days not washing. The oils from the scalp make the hair get together better.
When you tried it I'd like to hear the results.
You've made great progress Vincent, for just 16 months.
It looks GREAT!
"Another thing which has changed is that I stopped looking at how long my hair is a lot. For my feeling I've arrived at longhair right now I've only gotto let it grow."
That's the easiest way to get to your goal. When you worry about every millimeter, it would seem to take FOREVER!
Bruce
Thanks for your comment, the mindset I've got now is the best but it takes a while before I had it.
hi vincent. great hair & progress! i've found that my hair is happier too without shampoo. i just no-poo (wash with conditioner), moisturize, & keep it movin'. hhg
http://public.fotki.com/tkj25/
I still use shampoo but very little. I'm still intested going without shampoo at all but haven't made the change yet.
When my hair get's very greasy I still feel it needs a little bit of shampoo.
