Hey,
First post here. I've been growing my hair out for about 8 months now and I'm loving every minute of it and I'm always looking forward to it being longer. I'm not quite at the stage where I can pull my hair back into a pony tail yet. Most of it will stay but a few parts aren't quite long enough yet.
I've been thinking about maybe wearing a hair band or something similar. I've seen a lot of soccer players on tv wearing them during games and they look pretty good I think. I couldn't find a very good example but something similar to the photo I posted.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
I suggest trying before a mirror, then if you like it, ask your friends etc... that will be the natural thing to do.
As for my opinion:
Honestly, I don't think hair bands are looking good on everyone. They do look good, as far as a male can say, on certain people with certain hair type (more curly, I'd say). A half-short (wouldn't call it long, comparing the the lengths we have here in the forum :-P ) haircut will probably look better.
I wear an alice band regularly when I want to have my hair down but not in my face.

Go for it!
I used to wear a grey soft hairband that was my sisters' before I stole if from her around four years ago when my hair was just abit too short to make a ponytail, I would wear it around my wrist and put it on when I needed to play football or whatever or just when I wanted my hair off my face!
That said I've never really been the kind to care what people think of me, I didn't know anyone else with long hair back then, if you're worried about how it looks and you have friends with long hair ask them how it looks!
Just a thought, but it DOES rather help hold the hair together.
I've used the one you sent me quite often and like it a lot. It keeps the hair in place nicely. Thanks again, Justin!
Try this and see if you like it.

It has been great to see hairbands used by people like "superstar" athletes - in other words, hairbands have more "validity" when seen this way. (I'm not "endorsing" superstar athletes; that is another story). But it helps open the door for guys who are hesitant to wear them. I see several guys at my gym with headbands. Sometimes a handband AND a small ponytail, higher up on the back of the head. This look seems cool to me and it also is quite helpful, especially when exercising, when your hair isn't long enough to wear completely pulled back. However, I agree with Stas that the headband look isn't for everyone. Another good way to control "awkward" hair is with a bandana. Good luck and enjoy the process! By the way Stas, your hair looks fantastic! johnnie
I love hair bands!

If your playing football (soccer) then I think you'll fit in nicely with the Beckham crowd. To be honest however I rarely see this in the real world even in cities like San Fran and places like Venice beach where you see it all almost.
But give it a try it can't hurt can it.

I've seen a good many young guys wearing hair bands who have medium to long length hair. They all just look like regularly attired guys who need to keep their hair back. One guy who plays on the university's football team resembles a lion with a hair band in place.
