Hey! Thank you, Absalom, Glasseyes, Scooper, longhairedone and Paul for your swift and extremely informative replies! Now that I got this part out of the way, I'd like to ask about hair trimming/cutting. I really want to grow my hair, and I want it to grow fast, but I don't want to kill/damage it permanently. The problem with frequently trimming my hair is that it doesn't grow fast enough, and that is if it even grows in the first place!; sometimes, I feel that if I keep on trimming it, it just doesn't grow any longer over time (but if I extend the time periods between the trims, then I end up not trimming enough).
Could you please fill me in on the importances and dangers of trimming/not trimming? Also, how should I be able to tell if my hair needs trimming? I don't trust most others, as they're against me growing my hair, so they'll probably end up saying that I need to cut it (that's why I'm hoping I can learn how to tell if it needs trimming myself). And is it true that, if I cut my hair bald, it'll grow again much better than before? And last question as a response to Glasseye's wise advice, is a little bit of hairdrying okay for your hair? If so, how much is the maximum before damaging your hair?
I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions, I just really really care about my hair, and I have nobody else to ask around here; not even the doctors will help out, as they end up stereotyping you negatively if you have long hair -_-
Well over to you trimmers!
I certainly would not get wound up over trimming and just let your hair grow and in a few years see how it goes. I've been growing mine for 8 years now and not had a trim for a long time and it's down to belt length now. I know I get mocked from time to time with views on trimming etc but the lack them didn't do me any hardships!
From the pic you hair looks great and just keep it going.
Cheers,
John.B
The only time you should need a trim is when the split ends have taken over. Even with that don't trust what others may say, look for yourself. People think they can stand ten feet away and tell you that you need a trim because of splitends. I don't think so! They're just trying to get you to cut you hair unnecessarily.
Remember, if you ony have a few, you can seek an destroy without the trim.

Rumor has it that this subject is covered in one of the 8 parts about men with long hair by some idiot nut case on You Tube who has escaped Belleview! :-0
You will get a variety of OPINIONS on this. Here's mine...
I had a standing appointment for a trim every 12 weeks during my growing process. I had a TRUSTED stylist who wanted to help me grow it. She was the ONLY person who touched my hair. She would trim about 1/8" off every 12 weeks. This helped to keep my hair looking great during the entire growing process. It took 3.5 years for my hair to reach my waist (I think that was a pretty good rate of growth.)
Split-ends were never able to progress much.
I personally like neat, healthy looking ends.
If your only goal is to have your hair long regardless of how it looks, then don't trim. If you care about the condition and look of it, then do "dusting" trims by a trusted stylist. (Do NOT go to a different person for each trim.)
I wish you luck in achieving your goal!
That's great Mick so why don't you post and update!
Mick, I agree with John B. I think we'd all love to see that "waist length" hair!
Paul
For those who have recently joined our community what John and Paul are on about is this (and they're not the only ones). We have a few users who post periodically like Mick talking about their hair care routine and how wonderful their hair looks as a result yet they have never posted an update with photo.
To be fair we don't require that, yet most of us do and the few who won't have privacy reasons or whatever reasons they simply won't. The only things is people don't really take them seriously, for all we know they could be trolls. Who can say if they're longhairs no one knows. If someone is giving me their opinion it means much more if I can actually see what they are on about, or know them well enough online to believe them.
So from time to time you'll see these responses and I'll add mine occasionally as well. Credibility is the operative word and some have none. It's all just stories like tails of big foot and the Loche Ness Monster. (but of course they're real)
Cheers
Kevin
Hey Kevin,
Out of curiosity I searched the archives. "Mick" has posted 2 pics since 2006. Both are from the back, you can't tell if it's a woman or a man nor if it's a wig.
After reading some of those old post... hehe, I really liked "Photos of my Boyfriend" I have serious doubts.
In his reply to this girl he states, "There are so many pictures posted here where the guy's hair looks like holy hell. I ofter wonder if they purposely choose the very worst picture of their that they can find to post."
My vote;
Troll.
Paul
Your boyfriend's hair is.....
Oh yes we remember that one.
You know MLHH is like a party at someone's house like mine (we had one recently hence the pic) At a party you get several kinds of people, such as the ones who are outgoing and chat with everybody. Some tend to hang with mainly friends or familiar faces and a few drift off to the corners keeping to themselves just enjoying the atmosphere. So just imagine someone walking in with a paper bag over their head, how odd, who's that?
Looking at my pic no one has any bags over their head. All can be seen including the longhairs in the audience. So it's natural to feel like some people may be trolls wouldn't you say?
Take Care
Kevin
Listen to the guys below my post as they make tons of sense my friend:)

Hey Wael,
If you really want it long then don't trim it at all except for split ends. Trim those yourself by carefully looking at the ends and snipping them off with some scissors.
Don't listen to anyone who says go to a "trusted stylist". Is there such a creature? It's hard to find one that won't cut off more than you want. I personally don't think any of 'em even know what 1/8 of an inch is. By the time you find one you can trust not to whack off 2 inches then you've lost a lot of hair. Don't chance it.
Good luck,
Paul
Hi Paul,
The stylist my wife goes to is definitely Not longhair freindly and I avoid her like she has the plague.
When I was in Key West last December, I came acrossed a little barber shop that had a long haired barber (stylist)! It's called the "Bobby Shop"
Now that's someone I think I could trust!
Bruce
Hey Bruce,
"Longhaired barber", just sounds like an oxymoron. lol. No doubt, a rare bird.
I agree 100%, that's a stylist I could trust!
