Hi guys. My name is Jay, I am attemping to grow my hair out for the 3rd time The first time was in december 2007 I shaved it skin bald and grew it until about may 2008 when i decided to cut it for a new job.
Then after that since a few others at work have long hair i decided to give it a go again but i met a new girlfriend and decided to cut it to impress her in august. Then i followed that one up with another cut in October.
Now here I am its january havent cut it since the last follow up. My girlfriend dont agree with it. She says she dont like long haired guys but i told her i wanted it and she said she would agree if i wanted to do it so here i go again.
On my last cut i shaved the sides and back and left the top at about an inch to spike it up. Now its right at my eyebrows and i can see it when i look up. I am hoping i dont cave and cut again seeing you guys here getting together gives me hope. Lets just hope i follow through. It gets real poofy in the back though but thats because i have really thick straight hair...
Jay
Well hey Jay,
I sounds like your girlfriend likes you a lot. Maybe she'll get used to it. Encourage her to play with it (uh... I mean your hair).
Just keep in touch here and we'll do everything we can to help you not cave again. You may try talking to others irl who either have longhair or look like they're trying to grow it.

Welcome, and I wish you luck on your third time, I'm on my second try now haha. My girlfriend doesn't like long hair on men either. She doesn't mind the current length (~4 months) but when I see a guy with a pony tail down to his shoulder blades I'm like "Wow, I REALLY want hair like that", she just doesn't get it. Anyway, I guess I'm in the same boat, since I let her know that I'm serious about it she's fine with it. Best of luck to you.

This would be my fourth time, though technically I guess it really is my first since the previous times I simply let it grow and only aimed for some five month boy bangs. And yeah, what is it about girlfriends not getting our desire for long hair? Haha, mine reacted in the same way. I showed her a music video featuring Sebastian Bach in his glory days and told her he was my original inspiration for growing my hair out. Her response: she wrinkled her cute nose and said she just didn't think it looked good. :P Oh well, I keep hoping once it's all grown out and styled, she'll be pleasantly surprised.

Haha, I got the same exact response when I showed her this picture, which is about the length I indend to grow it out to:

He is the singer/guitarist for the band Belphegor (who is amazing if you happen to be into Black Metal). Simple, and long enough to have in a good ponytail.
