Hey everyone -
Here is an old picture of roughly what my hair looks like now. This picture was taken Christmas of '07 and my hair now is actually a good inch longer than it is in this picture. But since I have no recent pictures, this will have to do. My question now is, from my current length (length in picture plus over a solid inch), how long do you guys estimate I have before reaching the hair lengths depicted below?
This is Jared Leto from one of my favorite alternative rock bands, 30 Seconds to Mars.

And Steven Strait from a Disney movie I was watching with my sisters one night.

My hair is at that stage where it just doesn't feel like its growing very much any more. Day to day changes just aren't significant. It's well over my ears, ever tickling my eyes and almost reaching the tip of my nose, and is in constant need of being combed down with my fingers in the back. Altogether, I can see that it's grown since my last trim in December 9 but I can't help but feel discouraged that it's not growing as fast as it could be. Accordingly, I'm trying to aim for a mid-journey goal that I can reach, style and feel good about before pressing on to my original goal. So does anyone have any ideas on when my hair might reach the above lengths (my mid-process goal)? Thank you.

Hey !
A good inch longer, you said ? So, I think in 6 months, you'll have the length shown in the pictures, if you don't trim. Good luck !

Ok, that doesn't sound too bad. Would no trimming whatsoever be advisable though? I want my hair to be at a good length as quick as possible but not if it's going to come out looking ratty and unmanageable because I didn't exercise good hair care. From all I've read, it seems like regular bare-minimum dustings every two months are recommended for optimum results as far as speed and nice looking results go; is that true? Thanks again for your comment Vivien!

I'm about the same place you are lengthwise and in my opinion, you shouldn't get trims if you can manage to. For split ends, just hunt for them with a pair of scissors and cut them, but not the entire hair mind you just the part that's split.
Do that, be sure to wash your hair often and use LOTS of conditioner and you shouldn't have to get trims.

Alright, I'll remember all that, especially the part about using lots of conditioner. So in your own opinion, how far would you say you and I are from the length depicted in the pictures?
I just looked in the mirror and mine is probably about a half inch past my nose. The back of my hair touches my shoulders. I had the length in your picture in September/October.
Pic is my most recent pic
Lucky. Dude, your hair texture has that cool straight-and-tapered look. Kind of a finer look than mine, which is mostly straight but has more of a wave to it when wet. Anyway, that's sweet. Do you have any specific methods for washing it or styling it to achieve that look, or do you use any specific products per chance?
I think I saw that Steven Strait movie with my girlfriend awhile back, and I remember really liking his hair. Well I guess hair grows at ~6 inches a year, so maybe one more year?
Yeah it was just a tongue-in-cheek super-hero movie made for kids but I still had a lot of fun watching it. And yeah, me too bro, the minute I saw that guy's hair, I thought it looked awesome. I don't think I would ever do the red streaks - but the length and style were pretty hardcore and I'd like to achieve that look myself.
Yeah I liked the cut and lenght, I'm not a big fan of coloring my hair. I did once in high school for a concert my band was playing, all black, but I like my natural brown too much to stray from it haha.
My hair's dark brown too and I like it enough. I had blond hair up until I was about seven, so when I was sixteen I thought that might be a color that'd fit me and bleached. But it fried my hair and I was more than grateful to have my old brown back again six months later when I finally cut it off.
So what length is your hair at the moment anyway?
I haven't cut for 4 months from a fairly short crop, so my bangs are just above my eyebrows. I'd say maybe an inch shorter than your hair in the picture you posted. Thus, the sides of my hair barely reach the middle of my ears, and the back is just sort of there, at the top of where my shirt collar starts. Unfortunately I don't have a current photo. I've gotten to comparing my hair length only every 2 months to keep me from agonizing over whether it's getting longer yet haha. Patience is a hard game to play sometimes.
