Hello everyone,
First of all, I have to apologize for not being as active on the hyperboard lately, and I have been more of a lurker of late, although I have tried to stop on by a few times, the best I can. I hope to be more active again, now that I am back home again.
The main reason is that I have spent about 5 to 6 weeks with Tammy, and only got home yesterday. Tammy had some fairly significany surgery in early December, so I drove down her way and spent time with her, during her recovery. We spent Christmas and New Year's together, and had a lovely holiday. Although Tammy still has a long ways to go, due to some affect effects of the surgery (I won't get into details here), she is getting better day by day. Be sure to send her some healing thoughts, that she makes a full recovery.
At least the hair is slowly growing, and these photos represent about 4 1/2 to 5 years of growing. Tammy did do a SMALL trim in September, when I was there with her. I am not sure if I can achieve my goal of waist length hair, but I will certainly keep trying!
Here is a front photo.
Here is an "over the shoulder" photo.
Here is a ponytail photo (not all of it fit in the photo)
While I was there, Tammy did a braid in my hair.
Here is a photo of the two of us, in front of our small Christmas tree!
That is all for now, thank you for looking, and comments are always welcome! Thank you to everyone who has always been here for me, and I hope to be more active once again.
Hi David. Your hair is coming along nicely, and I believe that you are slowly approaching terminal length. Your brade looks nice. Can you brade your hair on your own.
Matthew aka Regardless
Hi Matthew,
Thank you for your kind words, and I hope that I am still a little ways from terminal length, and that I can achieve at least another 6 inches. My hair grows slowly, about 4 inches a year, but it is definitely still growing!
I still cannot braid by myself, and Tammy is really gifted at that. When she is feeling better, and on my next visit to her, I hope to get some "braiding lessons" from Tammy!
Thank you again,
David
Hi David,
Thanks for the update and I did wonder what was going on in your world and not seem much of you and thanks for sharing that with us. I'm sure the last few weeks have been difficult for you both and glad to see she has come thought it okay. Do send her my best wishes and to a speedy and full recovery.
Take care,
John.
Hi John,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for your kind words, and for keeping Tammy in your thoughts. Her surgery was very scary, but overall, it was a success. We are hoping that the unexpected after effects wil, go away with time.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
wow David your mane is so awesome looking! love the straight and thick hair, it has gotten so long since your last update and good to see your doing good since I haven't seen ya in a while, cheers! :)
Hi Mark,
Thank you for all of your kind words, and I always appreciate hearing from you. My hair varies in straightness from day to day, and the winter months are when it is at its straightest, and in the humid days of summer, a lot wavier/curlier.
I hope things are going well for you these days.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Hi David
Firstly, fantastic hair, its so much more healthy looking compared to when you first joined the board. The braid looks very good indeed.
Secondly, take all the down-time you need and pass on my best wishes to Tammy, and I wish you both a happy and healthy 2009.
~ Dave
Hi Dave,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for your kind words. I really have the hyperboard to thank fo the improvement in my hair's condition, and I hope that I can achieve a few more inches.
Thank you for keeping Tammy in your thoughts, and with the support of everyone here (as well as my friends over at the LHC), I am sure that she will make a full recovery.
Take care,
David
Welcome back David, I am glad that Tammy is recovering. That was great that you were able to be with her and help her through the surgery and recuperation. And also to enjoy the holidays together.
The picture of you both is terrific, it is even my favorite one of your hair too! You both look great.
Take care David!
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your kind words for my hair, and for the two of us! It is such a joy to see you posting again, and I hope that you are blessed with much better health in the future.
Tammy is very special to me, and I admit that her surgery was very scary. Hopefully, with time, the numbness in her left side will gradually disappear, and she will make a full recovery.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
David,
It's nice to see you posting again. :-) You hair is looking great too!
Take care,
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your kind words about my hair, and it is great to see you posting more recently as well. I hope that Tammy can make a full recovery!
Take care,
David
Hey Dave, great to see an update from you. You are looking very well indeed and that pic of you and Tammy is really nice. You look very happy and natural together. Your hair is looking fine as well. Keep up the great work and I am sending positive thoughts for Tammy's continued recovery.
BTW, great braid she did on you. What kind of band did she use to tie the end with? When I was back east this past summer my mom braided my hair and used a thick rubber-band on the end which was not a good idea.
Take care for now and say hello to Tammy as well.
Cheers,
Max
Hi Max,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and as always, thank you for your kind words for both me and Tammy. Tammy is very special to me, and we had the most wonderful Christmas together, and I hope that we will have many more years together, and that she recovers fully.
Although I probably won't make it to the west coast this year, I hope that I have the opportunity to get out your way sometime in the future to meet you, and perhaps Tammy will accompany me as well.
The hair tie that Tammy used (which I also use for any ponytail I wear) is one of the soft kinds with no metal piece in it. It is put out by "Goody". Although they manufacture a lot of different kinds of ties, make sure you check to see that there is no metal band in it. I will be looking forward to seeing your braid too, perhaps as part of your next update.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Hey David,
Good to hear from you again, your mane looks great! I'm glad everything went ok with the surgery.
Tammy's hair looks great too! I love the color!
This pic of you and her is defiantly a pic MarkS should use on his MySpace tribute to longhair.
Paul
Hi Paul,
Thank you for the kind words for the two of us, and I feel so fortunate to be blessed with Tammy in my life. I hope that she can make a full recovery, so we can have many years together. Ho
Keep growing that awesome red hair that you are blessed with!
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Hi David,
First of all I'm glad you made it home safely as the weather could have been much worse thus making traveling by car treacherous.I'm sure Tammy was ever so happy to have you around to help her during this difficult time and I wish her a speedy recovery:)Sounds like you spent a little more time away from home than originally anticipated but you being the nice guy made a huge difference for Tammy.Anyway during the months ahead I hope she regains full strength and continued longhair. All your pictures are great David as I can't even pick out a favorite. They are all just fabulous.Anyway glad you are doing well yourself and drop a note if you have the time my friend.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for the kind words for the two of us! Tammy is a sweet and special lady, and I hope, with time, that she will make a full recovery.
My drive home was fairly smooth, although there was some salt and stuff on the roads in New Brunswick and N. Maine which was more irritating than anything else, since every time a car passed by, I was sprayed with messy stuff that made it hard to see.
Once I get caught up with things, I will try to drop you a line to fill you in on more details. Perhaps on my next visit to see Tammy, we can arrange a meet up in your part of the world.
Thank you again, my friend, and take care,
David
Hello David,
I'm glad that Tammy is well, now. I don't doubt she was happy to have you with her during this hard time.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your progress. Even if your growth is slow, your hair is beautiful and you take care of it, it's the most important :)
Bye
Vivien
Hi Vivien,
It is a plesaure to hear from you, and thank you for your kind words for the two of us! I am hoping, with time, that Tammy makes a full recovery.
Hopefully, I will achieve a few more inches of growth, and waist length would be a dream come true!
Thank you again,
David
Hi David,
You are looking great!
Can't blame you for not being active lately - I think we've all had a lot of stuff on our plates to deal with lately.
Best wishes to Tammy to heal and get well!
- Oren
Hi Oren,
It is such a pleasure to see you posting on the hyperboard again, and thank you for stopping on by to offer your kind words. Thank you for thinking of Tammy as well, and I am sure, with the warmth and caring of our friends, she will get through this difficult time.
Thank you again,
David
David, glad to hear everything is starting to look up now.
And you've got some great hair to be proud of man!
I love the look it has when its braided
Keep it growin man!!
Hi JMPAH,
Thank you for your kind words about my hair, and I feel fortunate to have the hair I have at 55, even if it would be nice to have it a little thicker.
Tammy has excellent skills with braiding, and I hope to learn more from her in the future!
Thank you again,
David
Hey, David. It's good to see you post! I haven't posted much either as of late. Your mane looks super to date, David. I remember always being inspired by you when I first came to MLHH and still am! Looks absolutely good. You look very happy!
Cheers,
Hegg
Hi Hegg,
Thank you for your kind words, and it is great to see you stop on by! I was glad that I was able to be an inspiration to you when you joined, and you now have a mane to be proud of.
I feel fortunate and very happy to have Tammy blessing my life, and I hope that she makes a full recovery.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Hi David,
I'm glad to hear Tammy has come through the surgery ok and although her recovery will take time I'm confident she'll be as good as gold. I'm sure the time away from home has been tough at times and do give her my best next you speak.
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for your kind words for the two of us. I am so far behind with everything, and hope to be more active in the upcoming days. Perhaps I will write you (or we could chat on the phone sometime), and I will fill you in on more of the details.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Great to hear from you, David!!
I've been busy myself with things and havn't been able to post much too. Hair looks fantastic and long, the braid looks great also...no signs of MPB which means your regimin (as i remember) of saw palmetto and finestride are working wonderfully. My best to Tammy and I hope she has a full recovery...by the way I didn't realize she had such long hair also. Wonderful photos David, thanks for sharing and good continue to enjoy retirement!
-Phil
Hi Phil,
Thank you for your kind words for the two of us, and it is a pleasure to hear from you! Tammy is a truly special lady with the most beautiful long hair, and I hope that she can have a full recovery from her surgery.
Although there is a little bit of thinning at the crown and in the temple area in my hair, I feel fortunate to have the hair I have at 55 1/2 years old.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
looks fantastic!
all good thoughts for your friend...I know you being there did wonders for her!
Doug
Hi Doug,
Thank you for your kind words, and I hope that I was able to help Tammy in her recovery, and that she feels 100% better soon.
Thank you again,
David
Looks great, David. Hope Tammy recovers well from her surgery, and it's really great to see she hasn't given in to the conventional wisdom that grey hair should be short. It looks great on her!!
Jim
Hi Jim,
Thank you for stopping on by, and it is a pleasure to see you! I have always been one who believes that natural is the best way to go, and Tammy has the most beautiful long silvery hair! T
Thank you again,
David
Your hair looks fantastic, David, and even more importantly, YOU look very, very happy. I'm so glad things are working out for you two.
Mouse (also not on the board as much lately)
Hi Mouse,
It is always a genuine pleasure to hear from you, and thank you so much for stopping on by to offer your kind comments. Tammy is very special in my heart, and brings so much sunshine into my life, and I hope that she makes a full recovery.
Thank you again, and my best to you,
David
Hey David
All of the photos are just so neat........and that braid Tammy did for you. Wow. Great! :-)
Glad you made the trip safe and sound and were there for Tammy who I am sure really appreciated.
And of your own long hair? Splendid!
Take care-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Thank you for being such a wonderful friend, and for being here for me while Tammy has been going through what she has gone through recently. I really appreciate all the support you have given me over the years, from the day I first joined the hyperboard.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Great to see you back David! It has been a while now that I think of it! Well, you're hair still looking awesome and I must say, the two of you make a great couple. I hope Tammy experiences a full recovery!
Hi CeetheDinoman,
Thank you for your kind words about the two of us, and there aren't too many words that can express how I feel about Tammy, who is the sunshine of my life. I hope that she makes a full recovery!
Thank you again, and take care,
David
What a lovely couple you make!
It is truly wonderful to see an update from you David! Your hair is looking fabulous.
I do hope Tammy's recovery continues well, I know with your support, she is good hands.
Take care,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
It is great to hear from you, and thank you for your kind words for the two of us, and for keeping Tammy in your thoughts. I hope that as the days go by, she will be feeling a lot better.
I hope that things are going well for you, and looking forward to your next update.
Thank you again!
David
Hi David,
It's always a treat to hear from you, David!!
I am so sorry to hear about Tammy having to go through surgery; but, so happy to hear that she is getting better and recovering better with each passing day.... And, even better yet, I am so thrilled to hear that the 2 of you are still an "item"!!!
The pics are TERRIFIC, --- you always look like you're the happiest longhair on the planet (not to also mention that your hair just gets better and better looking each time I see It)!
As far as fequency of visiting MLHH goes, I've had to learn the hard way that we can only do the best that we can, time-permitting; so, just enjoy it whenever you do have the free-time to come and share here, and no guilt-trip from us when you can't (or at least I should say: no guilt trip from ME, at least, since I've been just as absent recently as you (lol)!!
Take care, David, --- and again, you are looking hands-down FANTASTIC!!!!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
It is a genuine pleasure to hear from you again, and thank you for your kind words for the two of us. Tammy has brought so much sunshine into my life, and I never dreamed that something like this would happen to this 55 year old guy, but one never knows where the road of life will lead. Hopefully, as the days go by, she will make a full recovery, and we will be blessed with many years together.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Hi David,
I'm definitely noticing increased length and thickness with your hair. I'm glad you made it back home safely. Of course, we're all very concerned about Tammy and are hoping for her continued recovery.
Jason
Hi Jason,
Thank you for stopping on by to offer your encouragement about my hair, and for keeping Tammy in your thoughts and prayers. I am sure, with time, and the support of our friends, that she will get through this difficult time.
I hope that things have been going well for you these days.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
David;
So glad Tammy is coming along in her recovery (Thanks no doubt to the Cheesecake-Ragtime Therapy).
Love the photo of the two of you....both of you have stunning hair and you guys really look good together.
That was a long time to be away from home...but it certainly was wonderful that you could be there for Tammy...now it is time to take care of yourself and get back to that retirement !!
I heartily recommend Cheesecake, Ragtime music and Naps
Be Good
Walter
Having tried the aforementioned Cheesecake - Ragtime therapy this user must now enquire as to how to get said desert out of the piano...
I guess you could either play Chopsticks or use a set ! HA!
Hi Walter,
Thank you for your kind words for the two of us, and alos, for being here for us during this difficult time. There is nothing like a good piece of cheesecake to soothe the soul!
I am sure it won't be long until I am back with Tammy once again, and I am sure that she will continue on the road to recovery.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
David, You both have wonderfully healthy looking hair!
peace, jonalbear
Hi Jonalbear,
Thank you for your kind comments for the two of us, and I was glad to see you stop on by!
Thank you again,
David
I've missed seeing you and your kind and upbeat posts. Have not been around a great deal myself. I am getting over being very ill with the stomache flu making it's rounds, caused me to end up in the ER for 5 miserable hours just over a week ago.
I was having a return of the fatigue I previously underwent before the diagnosis and treatment of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Osteomalacia. Thought it was me needing a change in thyroid med dose. Turns out I have Anemia, and as I told Ghris G way down below, my doctor and I pretty much have an idea of the cause. I have some testing coming up, and depending on the outcome, a consult will be scheduled with a surgeon. It won't be really major-type surgery, but will probably necessitate a 2-3 day hospital stay. I'm just taking it one-day-at-a-time. I have to take iron supplements for the time being.
Sorry to hear about Tammy, hope it wasn't anything too serious. You seem to be doing well, enjoying your retirement, I'm sure. I just responded to Ken's post, wondering why the hair growth slows, and whether he is appoaching terminal. And also why men seem to have shorter terminal lengths than us ladies. Same questions apply to you, apparently.
I know I am way overdo an update (wanted to do one in Aug. which was my 1 yr anniversary posting here.) I am actually catching up to you, lengthwise. My growth rate has strangely been faster than the norm. I actually am averaging about 9 inches in a year. Remember when I posted about all the new baby hairs that appeared when I first posted, after being on meds for the above two conditions (after the massive shed I had that caused me to cut my hair to chin-length)? Well, those baby hairs are now just starting to reach past my shoulders. The original chin-lenght hair is just about to pass the mid-back length. I've really gotta get the energy to take and post pics. I take MSM daily, and I really think it helps.
Drop by when you can. I'll try to do the same.
Hi Carol,
What a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you so much for topping on by to offer your kind words about my update.
I am so sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well, and have been experiencing continued health problems. rest assured that my thoughts and prayers are with you every day, that you are blessed with better health in the days to come.
Thank you for keeping Tammy in your thoughts as well. Her surgery was quite significant, on a major organ, and was in general, a success. However, due to the unpredictable nature of such surgery, there were after effects, and we are not sure how complete her recovery will be. Although she is doing better evey day, she still has a ways to go, and our hope is that she makes a full recovery.
That is great news about your hair! Hopefully, when you are feeling up to it, you will post an update to share your progress with us.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
G'day David,
Thanks for your latest update on your (slowly but surely) still growing hair. I know it must be frustrating for you to have to have slow growing hair but good things come to those who are patient.
It is now at a very respectable length for a longhair and I hope it continues until it reaches it's maximum potential. You have looked after it well for some time and it shows well in the pictures. It looks very healthy and with a lustrous shine. I think your silver highlight like the one I am begining to appreciate adds a certain distinguished look to your hair and I hope you never get tempted to mess around with trying to colour it as the silver streak highlight looks great.
I do sincerely wish Tammy a successful operation and rapid recovery and am glad that you have found a wonderful soul mate to share the remainder of your life with.
Duncan
Hi Duncan,
What a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you for your kind words. Slowly, but surely, the hair is growing, and my best guess is about 3 to 4 inches a year. If I can keep that up, Waist length would be about 2 years away, as long as it keeps growing. I also am a graet believer in keeping it "natuarl", so I do enjoy the silvers as they grow in.
Thank you for keeping Tammy in your thoughts, and in fact, she already had her surgery in early December. For the most part, it went well, but there were some after effects that may take time to pass, and we are still not sure how complete a recovery she will make.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
David,
I do not fault you at all for neglecting this board for Tammy. In fact, I feel a bit guilty neglecting it for graduate school.
You say that Tammy had a surgury, and though I know nothing about it, she seems to be in good spirits in the Christmas 2008 picture. I hope she makes a full recovery.
Like you, I am not sure if I will ever achieve waist length, but I am still trying for now. At any rate, your hair seems to be longer than mine. I would like to see that you one day accomplish your goal.
Tracy
Hi Tracy,
It is graet to see you again, and thank you for your encouraging words about my update. My best estimate is about 3 to 4 inches a year, and I hope that keepsup for another year or two. Hopefully, you will share an update with us in the near future as well.
Thank you for keeping Tammy in your thoughts, and we are hoping that with time, she will have a full recovery from her recent surgery, but for now, things are a little bit slow.
Thank you again, and take care,
David
