Hi all,
I won't bore you all with who I used to be or my last growing journeys or pain, or why I cut it before, just to say I used to frequent this board a couple of years back with regular update pics.
I'm a 34yr old guy, I have had long hair (past my shoulders) before, and have decided to make it my new years resolution to grow my hair long again. This is my third try.
This has come about for 2 main reasons, one being that I am noticing a significant level of thinning on top, not noticeable to others yet but is obvious to me, especially after a shower when combing. The thinning has been gradual over the last few years, so cannot be diet or health related but rather mean old genetics. I want to grow it out before this gets really serious, as I'm sure it will in the coming years. Sort of a last chance!
The second reason being there is no longer a workplace reason to stop me growing my hair out. There is a man at work (I work behind the scenes in a major bank) who has a belt length ponytail, really thick all the way to the ends. Beautiful! And another who has a mid back ponytail, he is of islander origin (Samoa) and his hair is extremely thick, curly and jet black and looks stunning. I'm sure when wet it would be belt length too.
My current goal is to grow out all one length, which I know will slow things down, but I feel is the best way for me. Once I've hit all one length I will let it grow to at least mid back with maybe an annual trim to neaten up split ends etc.
I don't plan to update too often, but will wait until I hit certain milestones, eg able to tuck behind the ears, touches bottom of chin, first ponytail etc.
I have included a pic as a "clue" ;) to those who may remember me, from my last journey which ended in 2007. At present I have short hair, it's been about a month since my last haircut.
Look forward to the company here again!
Hi Matt (or at least that's what my foggy memory says might be your name),
Hey, as the saying goes, "No worries!" Life is a journey, --- and although hair is an important part of that journey (especially to the crowd we're talking to here - LOL), hair is not "everything" in life, --- so, no need to beat yourself up over having cut it all off in the past, mate!
It's nice to see you back here, and I remember when you posted about the job that made you feel like you had to cut your mane short in order to survive financially. No judgement from me on this topic, as financial survival is probably the #1 toughest issue for us adult longhairs (with disagreeable parents being the #1 issue for teens still living at home)...
I agree with your reasons for deciding to re-grow your mane back to long again now, and am sure that most of the other fellow longhairs here will be supportive of your journey back to magnificent hairiness, too, --- in fact, ANY reason to regrow long hair to me has to be a good one, regardless (LOL)....
In any case, a big, hearty, WELCOME BACK!!!

TTL, "The third times the charm" so they say! Whoever they are? Nice thick hair with beautiful color. Best of luck in your continuing hair farming adventure!
peace, jonalbear
Hi ! Yes, I do remember you, I wish you good luck for this new journey !
Bye
Vivien
Hi Matt (like Ken I remember that much but your last initial is lost in a sea of possible initials, so many people have come and gone from here!)
I also cut my hair in 2007 (and even more in 2008 LOL) but I am back here again. Your hair looked magnificent with the color and waves in it and you will get back to that again. I imagine growing out and cutting and growing again are not all that unusual.
Good luck and hopefully you will post here more often than you update (I am trying to do that myself lol)
Take care
Hey I remember you Matt! Welcome back and good luck on this new hair journey!
Bruce
Hey man, that's some nice hair.
I glad to hear you are no longer hampered by a hair policy at work. Maybe things are trying to swing in our favor again, finally.
Paul
I remember you. :-) You had some of the best hair on this board. It was truly a shame to see you chop it all off. Glad to hear your growing it out again. :-) Don't give in to the scissors!
I remember you, and I almost wanted to cry that you cut off all that beautiful hair for a job. Glad you are back in the growing process, and hopefully you can continue being employed and having long hair. It royally sucks that you guys have to endure such discrimination.
G'day Matt
So glad to have you back, mate, you have been a credit to Australia. When you decided to cut your magnificent locks, you sounded so depressingly sad. I do hope everything goes well for your this time - work, relationships etc.
But with the high summer temps in the Blue Mountains this month you are probably experiencing some discomfort. Don't give in!
I look forward to your progress.
Thanks all for the kind words of encouragement, I dodn't think I was missed that much.
Let the growing begin!
Thanks,
Matt
Welcome back Matt! Good to see you again.
Welcome back Matt - It has been a while!
