Hello there.
I have been lurking on this forum for a good few months now, and would love to say thankyou for those who have given advice to those in need like me!
So a quick background. I have been wearing my hair long most my life. I've cut it twice, but both times instantly regretted it and started growing it out again. Both journey's have been tough, especially at the well known awkward stage.
Anyway. I wear glasses. The temple hair just above my sideburns had a habit of snapping and being incredibly wispy, so i started cutting it down. I keep trying to grow it out, but when it gets to the stage where i tuck it under my glasses, and it starts to stick out, i get fed up and cut them again.
Now, I'm starting to get a little annoied at this. I've even considered cutting my hair, but while I have it, I would love to keep it, plus my girl friend likes it too.
I would like to know if any of you guys have any suggestions to help growing it out?
Thankyou
-Simon
Let your hair grow and keep the bangs in the eyes. Girls in my school love it.
Simon ,
I myself am new here and have been an "Admirer" of board also
Dont know what kind of hair type ( lack of photo ) you have but I wear glasses also and I just let my wavy/ curly hair bangs fall over and around the spectacles.
Dont cut any part of your hairs, let em all grow and enjoy the reward to come later on when you receive your goal length

When you say "wispy", how wispy are we talking about? I am growing my hair out right now, and I found the hairs near the sideburns and temples to be a bit annoying, and I still have problems with them sticking out(my hair is too thick to push behind my ears completely), but I usually gel them down.
Yeah, that's the hair I'm talking about. It got somewhat straggly/wispy and was really quite a nuisance. My hair is around 4 inches below my shoulders all round, and it's a length I'm pretty happy with (my partner trims it every 6 months or so to get rid of the dead ends).
I have to tie my hair back for work, as I work in the food industry. And currently at their current length since I last cut them they are around 2 inches.
How about some hair pins when they get a little longer? Are they easily hidable?
In reply to the previous poster, my hair is the fair type. Sorry for lack of picture, I'm having problems with my digital camera right now.
I've found that plain bobby pins are pretty subtle when I've tied my hair back (not all of mine reaches the tie). You really have to be looking to see them, so that might work for you. IMO it helps if you have dark hair, I think they would show up more on blond or red hair.
I do a minor trim of hair where my sideburns blend into the head hair. I keep the sideburns short. This is a VERY small amount of hair, can't emphasize that enough. I angle the scissors to follow the angle of my ear. Seems to help.
Thanks a lot. I'll try this then update you guys in a couple of months!
At first I thought that you were complaining about how your hair looked after wearing your yarmulke.
My temple hair is slightly stiffer than the rest of my hair, so it tends to stick out to the sides, giving me that windswept Charlie's Angels look if I don't ruthlessly mash it down.
