Here's a picture of my hair down so far. I never wear it down and have tried cornrows but they don't stay in lol. When wet my hair has these cool ringlets but when it dries it gets puffy. My mom accidentally cut my back and sides at an angle so I have been wearing hats and bandannas since xmas to grow it back out. It looks fine if I wear it down but I don't have enough weight to stop the puff.My hair is fine, I just learned to accept it. A lot sheds but I don't know, I have more hair than I think I guess. The last time I had my hair this long, I was in high school and it was chemically straightened, the whole growing out process is completely new for me. I want my hair long by powwow season for when I dance, but that's pretty much an impossibility lol..maybe next year. Thanks you guys for all your support. I'm in montana now with hard well water, does anybody know what to do for curly hair and well water?

If the well water is hard, then you might try a final rinse with soft water. Distilled water is great but if you don't want to purchase water, you can collect some rain water. I've done that and it makes my hair feel very soft.
If the problem with the well water is odor or other impurities, then a shower filter might help. I don't have a specific recommendation but you might want to take a look on Amazon and read about people's experiences with them.
Nice pic, by the way.

Be very careful concerning cornrows, or, any other style that pulls on the hair. This may result in traction alopecia and the results are usually permanent.
