Hi All: Enjoy the site. I have decided to let it grow for the first time since about 1986.
It's been 20 years plus of mostly buzz and blend and variations on that theme.
I am not sure really what style to go with. If you can handle looking at my ugly mug...this is where I am at.
Last haircut was end of October 2008. Number two guard buzz on the sides, scissor cut on the top.
I want it mostly over the ears and as you can see I have a long way to go...
My career won't hold me back one way or another as I am a writer/producer/director, so anything really goes.
But I want something that doesn't take a whole lot more maintenance than the short style that I have grown bored with.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
Welcome! I started growing mine out in Dec 06, starting, like you, from a #2 buzz all around. Your mug is no "uglier" than some of the rest of us, myself included - LOL. You've got some good progress going! You'll hit some bumpy roads as it grows over your ears. It took a while for me to get used to having hair on and over my ears.
Hi Bill:
Yeah, that bumpy road seems to be where I am at. But serioulsy since I had really long hair was when I was 17. I am now 176 years old. So getting used to my hair having a mind of its own is a relearning experience.
Thanks.
Welcome to mlhh and good luck on your hair journey. The most important thing is have fun with it.

Thanks Kevin. Good point by you. Right now the hair is in the "what the heck are you doing, dude?" phase. Looks like a total mess most of the time.
Welcome to the mlhh Mr.FilmGuy!There really is nothing wrong with your appearance that a little longhair can't solve:)Longhair has a way of softening ones appearance for some reason but its a good thing.Whatever your goal, as long as you are happy with it is all that matters.Cheers
Mark
Hey, thanks Hairball. I appreciate it. I know I am asking a bit of an open-ended question that there is not right or wrong answer.
It's just that I have really made the decision in the last few weeks to "What the hell" let it grow. Has been over my ears or down to my shoulders in a long, long time.
Thanks for you thoughts!
Welcome aboard! If it's top-notch advice, motivation, and encouragement you're looking for, you've definitely come to the right place. Based on the picture you posted, I'd say long hair should suit you very well. If your hair grows at the average rate of about 1/2" per month, your ears should be covered within the next 3 months. As far as maintenance goes, I'd say just keep it washed, conditioned, and brushed, and let it find its own "character."
Good luck, and keep us posted!
