And I fear this to be my last one,as I am most likely to be serving the army soon(they pick people randomly to serve),so I might be getting a haircut soon, just so I can lower my chances of being selected(military discriminate against long hairs, and call us to serve just to shave our heads),thus gaining myself some time to study and get into a college(I'm doing arts),long rough road ahead.Hope everyone is doing well,I'm very fond of this board and you guys, the world would certainly be a better place to live in if there were more people like you,and not drones of the system we have to tolerate every day.Sorry I haven't been posting around for quite sometime,as this year is most likely to be the harshest yet(college, army, school).Keep the faith, keep it growing!
Hi Rafael,
Thank you for sharing this outstanding update with us, and you are blessed with excellent hair, with lots of shine.
I am genuinely sorry to hear that you have to cut that great mane of yours, and am annoyed that there is discrimation against guys with longer hair in your part of the world. Perhaps, when you have completed your time in the army, you will grow it long again.
I wish you the very best in the future, and you are always welcome in our community.
Take care,
David
Thank you so much for your kind words,David, and I'll do my best to protect my hair from those savage military men.Take care,my friend, and keep that inspirational mane of yours growing strong, for it is of great support and encouragement to your fellow longhairs =).
Hi Raphael,
This is an excellent update photo, and I'm sorry to hear it may be the last one (for a time, but NOT forever, I'm sure). I've greatly enjoyed your updates, and hope you will continue to post on the MLHH, even if circumstances force you to temporarily part with your long hair. Good luck with your educational endeavors, and if your path does indeed lead you into military service, BE SAFE, my friend.
Take care,
Val
Thanks,Val,and though I'm quite uncertain of what awaits me in the near future,I am and will always be a longhair in my heart!Keep up the good work, and that head of hair growing, too!
Take care! =)
Hi Rafael,
I am sorry that you may have to cut your hair now but if it will increase the odds that you can stay in school than it is a good reason to do so. I think it is terrible that the military draft or whatever you call it there is selective. If it were truly random than you wouldn't have to cut your hair until you for sure you had to serve. Or if it were mandatory for everyone like in other countries than you would know as well. But to think that they can just pick you because they don't like the way you look, that is maddening. How do they choose do they interview everybody? I was wondering how they would know you had long hair.
Well whatever happens let us know and no matter what this place will be around when you are done and will welcome you back when you are ready again.
Hopefully you will get to stay in school, which is a hard enough path to follow. Stay well my friend and good luck!
Your hair has made some serious progress, Rafael. Sorry to hear you may have to cut it soon :-/ Keep in touch!

Where do you live?
Rafael I feel so bad for you with that hanging over your head.To think at any moment you can be called up and not only be forced to serve but to loose your treasured hair is unthinkable. If it was at all possible to get you here to the US, just to spare you that fate,it would be awesome to save such a cool guy such as yourself. If going to college buys you time be sure to take at least 10 years worth then.Other than that you have incredible hair my friend:)I do feel for you buddy.

When you said that military selects long haired men just to shave their heads, it is an example of discrimination. For your information, discrimination is one of the things that go on my hate list. I think the military in Brazil, like in the US, should pick the people capable to be in the military, those who are strong, healthy, athletic, enduring, capable, ambitious and intelligent, not on minor things like hair length, color of skin or general hobbies. If the military picks a long haired man just to shave his head, they may have made a big mistake in picking a very wrong person. Let's say, for example, the military picked a long haired man just to shave his head short. That man has a very low IQ, walks very slow (cannot run or play any sports), and cannot effectually read or talk to people (only makes sounds people cannot understand), and now, he has to join the army and defend his country. Would he be able to do so? No. In the United States, yes, they make people shave their heads joining the army, navy or marines, but people choose to join the military, and when they choose to join, they get ready beforehand by getting in shape and getting disciplined, so they will be ready when they finally join the military.
By the way, are you capable to join the army or are you not? If anyone wants to discriminate you, don't follow through, and maybe they will learn. Good luck on your studies.

Your hair looks to be in fantastic condition Rafael! It's a shame you have this kind of pressure. I know once this ordeal is over, you'll begin you journey once again. Stay safe and stay in touch.
Bruce
Very nice update, Rafael!
Your hair has grown a good bit and looks great.
It is unfortunate that you are feeling pressured to cut your hair to avoid a form of "discriminatory selective service".
Being young as you are, hopefully you will get this behind you, and be able to enjoy many worry free years of long hair.
The very best to you, and hoping that events turn in your favor.
- Oren
Hi Rafael ! It's a nice head of hair you have here. The length is coming and you have a good volume. Don't worry if you have to cut now, I'm sure you'll have the possibility to grow it again and again in the future. But I hope you won't have to serve in the army.
Bye
Vivien

Hi Rafael,
Congrats on a nice head of hair and sorry you are in such a dilemma right now but hopefully you will not be selected and can attend college instead.
This sort of dilemma was faced by many of the military age young men in the US during the Vietnam War period back in the 1960s and early 70s when the United States had selective service based on a lottery system according to birth date (if I recall right) and many a long hair back then faced perhaps even a worse dilemma than yourself right now, in that not only did they risk losing their hair for a while but they were also very likely to have to fight, to kill and possibly be killed in Vietnam.
Your hair looks great. Good luck with the school and the military. Did I read it right that you might NOT be drafted?
Chris
Hi Rafael, I hate this world and its disgusting 'systems', what right have these idiots in government to make someone serve and shave their head. Warmongering arseholes.
You have come a long way, and your hair is looking great.
Good luck in your schooling, your future and may the army section of your life pass quickly and uneventfully.
Take care and keep posting.
~ Dave

hey man
it's inspiring to see you still being positive even though you may have to serve the army soon and shave your hair :(
That's a shame, you have really nice hair!
Enjoy it while it's there :)
let us know what happens please
Such fantastic long hair. But why get it cut at all now if the military may not want you?
looks great man! def getting really long now and its looking awesome :)
Well, once you seerve your time, you can rejoin the ranks of the longhairs. How long do you have to serve? I think the military haircut requirement is dehumanizing, intentionally done to basically force you into being nameless drones. The MLHH will be here for you, and will look forward with you for the day you get to regrow your hair.
