this is slightly related to my post about frizzy hair in the shower.
once i've washed my hair, because it's so thick it is very dry for about 2-3 days, even if i put in loads of conditioner. after a while the natural oils return and it gets less frizzy and "poofy", but i found that using coconut oil in the mean time helps quite a bit.
does anyone else use this? if so, how much, how often, when?
does anyone use other oils? i've heard people talking about jojoba oil in the past, but i'm not sure it's the same really.
Coconut oil is very popular over here in my country, only that it freezes up in the winters.I use it but only a night before i shampoo my hair ( on the scalp that is). You can use a few drops of it on the strands , after the shower, it surely helps with the frizzy hair.If you have thick hair it won't be a problem , it justs weighs my hair down after a day or two.
cheers guys.
two tablespoons sounds a lot! but i guess ur hair is a lot longer than mine is now. i use like, a pea-sized amount and then add about the same again if it's still very dry. but it always depends on if i have just washed it and how dry it is etc.
i try to use as little shampoo as possible, but it's sort of a catch 22 situation - don't wash for 5-6 days and my scalp is nice and oily naturally and my hair looks good - but then it requires more shampoo to clean!! gotta find a balance i guess.
I've also got thick and frizzy hair, my solution was to gradualy cut down on the amount of shampoo. Right now I wash my hair without shampoo, only with conditioner. This reduces a lot of the frizz.
I like coconut oil and use about 2 table spoons every other day after washing.
