Hi all from the snowy white north of Toronto, Canada! I started growing my hair out when I got rid of some self defeating habits and people in my life, and told myself I will keep the hair as long as it keeps me... as to symbolize of my inner strength being reflected on the outside for me to see. So we'll see how it goes, not to mention I already have forearm tatoos, which is a taboo among most professions, but thank fully I am of the profession that no one cares how many tattoos or how long my hair is, so I decided to give it a try much to the help of this wonderful site. I've been following the forum for a while but never posted anything as I never really had anything to offer or say for that matter. Here is my hair hair since July 1, 2008. However to do pose a question to your body of knowledge, does cold weather affect you hair when wet? For better or for worse than drying it prior to exposing it to the elements?
Thanks love the board.
I would assume that up till the point where your hair is actually freezing. The wetness of it wont matter to your hair. Mighty uncomfortable though I would think.
So just out of curiosity, what IS your profession??
I've never noticed any difference in going out in the cold with wet hair, other than it's less comfortable as my head seems to get cold much faster.
Good luck on growing yours out, hope it works out well for you.
I'm not sure, but my hair has frozen when it was still wet on going outside early in the morning. I don't think it did any damage or anything though. It unfroze pretty quickly when I got inside in the warmth.
Well speaking from experience here in snowy cold Wisconsin, (almost Canada) The cold doesn't do anything bad to my hair but the dryness of winter does if I don't condition like hell. I've gone out in sub zero cold with wet hair and I've heard it all.
You'll catch cold!......Only if there's a cold virus out there with me.
You'll catch pneumonia!........Still waiting for that to happen.
Your hair will freeze and break off!........Nope, it thawed out and was fine.
To be fair going out in the cold meant going to the car cleaning it off and getting in to go to work, so I wasn't out for hours or anything like that.
Also Welcome to the board, it's great you found us.

Hi and welcome to the board. Glad you found us and your hair is off to a good start.
As for the cold, I don't think it hurts all that much, but I am not 100% sure.
Certainly whenever I have seen a REAL Eskimoo it appears that they have very nice hair.
Looking good so far, long hair looks like it would suit you very well. I've went out with wet hair in the cold, it froze of course, but unthawed eventually and didn't do any damage.
Hey Sociable, you are off to a good start...you inner strength is definitely manifesting itself...keep up the good work.
The cold weather does not seem to affect my hair if I go out in it and then it dries...unless of course one might go out in minus 50 degree temps and then there might be an icing problem. LOL
Congrats on your achievement thus far.
Cheers,
Max
Nice to see somene else from Toronto here, and its not really that snowy here... or atleast the last two weeks weren't and still haven't beaten that record snow fall (yet).
As far as cold weather and wet hair, I have no problems with it, where I work I'm usually in 1 C or less temperatures (Cooler/Freezer) all year round and I often just wash my hair 30 minutes before my shift without causing any damage as far as I can tell.
