Hey everyone... sorry for not posting an update last month. Almost right after I got my trim, I injured my back and have been suffering from a pinched nerve ever since. It's been hard to get the energy to take pictures as it really hurts to stand for too long.
I decided to cancel the perm (I've since discovered some nice curlers to put in wet hair, more on that another day when I can take some pics). But for now, here's how the trim looks, one month later. Still flat, limp hair, especially from the front, but looks OK from the back. The blunt cut makes it look a bit thicker:
(hopefully these links work) The one with the orange shirt is uncombed, the one with the red shirt is combed.

Hi Pete,
Sorry to hear about your back; I hope it won't hurt, the sooner the better.
Nice pics. I don't find your hair as flat as you say, you know. It's fine, but the volume is nice :)
Bye
Vivien
Hi Vivien,
Yes, the back injury is a real hassle. Still a few more weeks to go before I can get some relief.
From the back, my hair looks OK, but from the front, it looks limp and flat (even right after it's washed and has air dried, but even more so after a day). It's also a bit thin on top. But, there's no point of me getting upset over it. That's the hair I've got, so I have to live with it. I like using the curlers in wet hair. Next time I use the curlers, I'll share some pictures.
Cheers,
Peter
Hair looks great! Keep it growing!
Thanks, and I wish I could keep it growing, but it looks like that's terminal length for me. The last trim to get the blunt cut took off anywhere from half an inch to maybe 2 inches (at most). So, sadly, that's pretty much as long as it will get... Some guys have longer hair that that after 2 or 3 years and it still grows. For me, that's 5 and a half years worth of growth!
Oh well, at least I can still grow SOME hair, for that I am thankful.
Cultivate the Positives, Weed out the Negatives as my Grandma used to say.
You have a respectable lenght of hair Peter, and some guys cannot grow their hair much beyond collar lenght so try and be happy with what your got!
Duncan
Yes, that's true... I've come to accept that this is the longest my hair will get. But I still get frustrated when people say I'm still "growing out" my hair. Much as I'd love to have it longer, that's just not going to happen. But then when you say there are guys who can't grow their hair past collar length, I'm grateful to have the length I've got.

Hi Peter,
So sorry to hear about your back problems as that's a real downer. There is so much you can't do with such injuries and I do wish you a full recovery.
At least you are making great progress with your hair to help take your mind off the injury. From what I can tell you have a great head of hair.Don't get too hung up on the lack of body as my own hair is just plain ole straight but it looks longer that way so I'm happy about that.Just keep up the good work and you'll be sittin' pretty my friend.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark, yeah I'll be happy when I'm over this back injury. It actually affects my left lower back and my entire left leg. Maybe it's getting better - I can stand for a few minutes before the pain kicks in. Long enough to take some hasty pics of my hair!
As usual, the pictures make my hair look better than it does in real life! But, from the back it always seems to look better - you can't see how thin and flat it is in the front and sides. If I don't comb my hair, it's a bit wavy, but it looks a bit messy that way.
Cheers,
Peter
Hi Peter,
Thank you for sharing your update with us, and your hair looks fabulous, and staright hair is the easiest to grow super long if you wish. Also, I am sorry to hear about your back injury, and I hope that you feel better soon.
Take care,
David
Hi David,
I was really sitting on the fence with getting that perm. I like the look of curly hair. My hair is slightly wavy until I comb it. The curlers I got are OK, but not quite the effect I wanted and they're a bit of a hassle to use on a regular basis.
Thanks for the get-well wishes. I'm not sure if you've ever had a pinched nerve, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Oh well, a few more weeks and I should start to recover.
Cheers,
Peter
You may use the terms "flat and limp" if you choose, but really, you have very nice looking hair, what I for one would love to call my own. It looks under control and altogether great, cool color, etc.

Thanks Matt. For some reason, my hair tends to look really good whenever I take update pics! The flat and limp part is on the front (especially the top). I like having my hair down because it shows the length nicely, but when it's tied back, it hides the thin/flat/limp hair on top.
Cheers,
Peter
(Ecstasy) Glad to see your update and your hair looks great. I like the "uncombed" view the best...
(Agony) Hope you're "back" in the pink soon !!
WWT
Thanks, I like the uncombed look too. It shoes off the natural waves better. But I like to comb it with a wide tooth detangler every day or two to prevent serious knots.
As for my back, I can't wait for the injury to heal! Six weeks and it hardly feels any better.
Cheers,
Peter
Hi Peter, this is good update. Your hair looks marvelous! We are our own worst critics. Believe me when I say that I'm jealous.
Hope you feel better soon!
Bruce
Hi Bruce, thanks, I like the look of my hair from the back (only it would be nicer if that wasn't my terminal length). But from the front, it looks thin and limp no matter what I do. But I'm grateful to have what I've got - I just need to work with what I have.
Cheers,
Peter
Looks cool to me Bro. As a matter of fact it looks like my hair about 2 years ago.My hair is about a half a foot from my waist but the ends dont look too healthy. I have been hearing alot about this blunt cut. Maybe I should try it
Todd
The blunt cut really made a difference. I was hesitant to get it, because, as short as my hair is (that's 5.5 years of growth), it seems to be my terminal length. No more than 2 inches was cut off - in some places even less - and it definitely makes my hair look thicker. The stringy ends at different lengths made it look thinner.
