Hey guys! i've posted here on and off since 2003, and just recently started posting updates and whatnot of my second attempt of growing out my hair.
these past few months i've seen members cut their hair due to a job so i thought i would share my job search experience. i had 3 jobs lined up since january and went to interviews etc.. but most of them wanted me to chop off my hair so i informed them that i would not do that and that was that.
well finally at the end of february i find a nice job at T-mobile as a sales associate. They had no problem with my hair length as long as i had it up in a conservative ponytail while working. I am stoked, not a bad job for an 18 year old kid i think.
i guess what i want to say is look around a little bit for employment before automatically jumping to cut your hair off. it may take a little longer to find a job with long hair but it is doable. if you were patient enough to grow your hair long you can be patient enough to find a long hair friendly job :)

Hi Matt,
Congratulations that is wonderful news indeed and I hope all goes well in your new job. As you said it pays to look around a bit rather than chopping your hair off for the sake of it.
Look forward to your next update.
Cheers,
John.B

Matt, that's a great story with a happy ending and your advice is on target:)Sure you may have to do a little more legwork but you proved there are longhair friendly employers out there.Cheers my friend!

Good deal!
I consider myself lucky to work for three nice guys, Me, Myself, and I. I haven't had to face the issue of the conservative workplace and I applaud you for your perseverance.

Nice conclusion ;) And congratulation for your job !
Personally, until today, I never encountered any difficulty to find a (temporary) job when I wanted. Let's see in the future...
Bye

Hey that's great to hear! I'm getting my degree in marketing and really hope I can find a job in sales or marketing that allows me to keep my hair long. There has to be companies out there that are okay with longer hair.
