Hi guys!
Here's my issue. My hair is beginning to enter the awkward stage, and it is very curly. I'd like to be able to slick it back, but I don't know of any products that are strong enough but not sticky.
Any suggestions?
I'm currently using American Crew's Texture Cream, but it is starting to fade in potency.
Hi Nate,
Always a good question, and a natural reaction many guys have to finding out how "naturally curly" their locks are. One strategy that works is to just try to "hold" things where they are. If you hair is curly--don't fight it. A really good, natural gel after you shower will help hold in the moisture that your hair really needs if it is curly. Try a dime size blob of clear gel on moist hair, run it through all the hair, comb (if you can) with a really wide-toothed comb, and leave it alone. Don't decide to later run a brush through it--it will poof up huge. I know I posted this earlier, but check out the naturallyCurly.com site, which is mostly for gals, but it has some great stuff for guys as well. According to them, 65% of people are gifted with curly or at least wavy hair. Why fight it? I know stocking hats can be an option, but not usually too sexy. Embrace the curl! You (and others) might just be surprised how great you can look!

Thanks, Dan!
I'll take a look at the website you mentioned.
Nate
I have very curly hair too and have been in an awkward stage for about five years (due to my last school I attended). Basically every time my hair reached my mouth area they made me cut it. I spent five years, gelling it and washing it every day (I couldnt sleep with gelled hair because I found it very uncomfortable.)
The damage was devastating. It was so dry it did not curl up anymore.
I do however agree that it is far neater to slick it back
I used to use gels with a lot of alcohol so as to dry faster. Be careful as to how much you put in.
I havent used gel since October 2008 (my hair was 3 inches at most; I can almosty put my hair in a ponytail/highbun right now) and it is definitely better looking.
Key is: condition and air-dry. : )
Hope I have been some help
Thanks!
