I have been having a dandruff problem for about a while, how do I control this? It makes my head all itchy and I don't want to scratch it for fear of damaging my hair.
I have the same problem, but i feel it's because my skin is excessively dry. The itching is a big problem, especially in the night when i can't hold back. I went to a dermatologist and she gave me a shampoo my sensitive scalp couldn't even stand. It gets horrible in the winters.I use oil and that really helps, but then you can't really go out or keep them oiled all the time. What to do?

I know, it is an irritating problem. It is always showing up on my keyboard as you can see in the image. I have been adding tea tree oil to my shampoo. I am not sure if it has reduced my dandruff or not. It may have helped to reduce excess shedding of hair, though.

Well you've come to the right place we know all about flakes.
I wouldn't worry about damaging your hair by scratching, you would have to scratch pretty hard. Scratching will however cause more dandruff as it's from your scalp. Try dandruff shampoos first and if it doesn't improve consider seeing a dermatologist who can prescribe something stronger than off the shelf stuff.
Good luck

but any way of knowing if it is the dryness? I mean i have freaking dandruff on my legs as well. And the more i shampoo, the more severe it seems to get.If i comb, i get flakes, although that stops the itching.I have been thinking of taking omega-3,6 supplements as it feels my skin is just not producing any oil.
That's where seeing a dermatologist is suggested. Cost may be an issue for you but it's worth it to be able to deal with it successfully.

Neutrogena T-Gel should do the trick . Also, you might want to supplement your diet with Zinc, or, a good supplement like Centrum.
