Thinkin it was in Jan. 08 I did the top photo for an Avatar and the bottom pic is the progress so far. This is my first time in 53 yrs. to grow out my hair, makes me wonder what it would have looked like back in my twenties. Never thought I had curly/wavey hair but I do. The left side is more curly than the right, don't know why that is, but I'm learning to live wirh it. Jojoba Oil and the new found Coconut Oil have been good to help me keep the poofy curls in control. The bangs are long enough to stay in the tail now without flying around. Lord willing and I live to this time next year, I hope to have reached my goal length in the back and be close to my goal in the front. I appreciate all the good hair advice I've gotten here, it has helped alot.
Frank
Some fantastic progress Frank! Nice curls!
peace, jonalbear
Thanks Jonalbear, I appreciate it.
Frank
Wow man, what a mane!!! You have to be quite proud of your growth. It looks very good.
VJ
Thanks VJ, I've surprised myself, didn't think I could stick it out this long, but I still have a ways to go.
Frank
Frank;
You have come a long way and your hair looks great....I like the longer "stash" to, but you have to work on that smile under it ! AH!
Thanks for Sharing
WWT
Thanks White Tail, I'll work on the smile. :-)
Frank
Hi Frank,
Thank you for sharing this outstanding update with us! You are blessed with the most impressive thick and curly hair, and the good thing is that you have no signs of thinning or MPB to speak of. At 53 years old, that one great head of hair, and be sure to keep up the good work with the growing!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks David, my Dad's side of the family still have good heads of hair, hope that means more growth for me.
Frank
Awesome update Frank! love the curls and waves we have the same hair type, thats the weirdest thing because my hair is wavy/curly and my hair on my left side is curliar than my right side lol i dont know why either but oh well :) great update again!
And just think Mark, some folks pay good money to have their hair look like ours! All the best to you and your curly/wavely hair journey.
Frank
Terrific progress. Keep it growin!
Could it be that one side is different than the other because this is the side you sleep on? Just a thought.
Thanks Justin, I'm kind of thinking it may be because of the head/scalp injury back in '78. May have damaged the hair follicles with all the stiches and staples. Praise God the hairs still growin in that area though.
Frank
Hi Frank
Sounds as if this is why. Oh well, I wouldn't let it bother me all that much. You STILL have great long hair! :-)
Justin~
It's amazing how the body recovers from the stuff we put it through.
Thanks Justin
Frank
Awesome!
Thanks Quester.
Hi Frank, thats a great update, your look has changed dramatically with the longer hair and I like the way you have grown your moustache too. Great length and looking very cool my friend.
Take care,
~ Dave
I've gotten some positive comments on the hair out in public, wished I would have started this hair journey a long time ago. I've heard it said "if you don't cut it, it will grow!"
All the best to you Dave.
I would say some progress alright. I like the curly wavyness but then that's always the case those of us who have straight hair want a wave to it those who have wavy hair want it to be straight.
We always want that which we do not have. LOL
Looks excellent.
Kevin
Thanks Kevin, my Mom had the curly hair and my Dad the wavey, I shouldn't be surprised.
Frank
Hi Frank,
Man,your hair looks fantastic and I too wonder what your mane would have been like in your younger days. Not that you still aren't young:)Hey, at least you are growing your hair now and that's all that matters.Like the old saying goes...Better late than never.Anyway you look great and I believe you will be here next year and many more to come my friend.Keep the faith!Great update.Cheers
Mark
Thanks Mark, I appreciate the kind words.
Frank
Hi Frank, you have made amazing progress and your hair looks super. You should be proud of your achievement.
Cheers,
Max
Thanks Max, I've amazed I stuck it out this long, but it's something I always wanted to do.
Frank
Waves, curls and more. A man having wavy or curly hair makes me want to play with it. By the way, it is a good amount of growth for one year.
Matthew
Thanks Matthew.
Frank
That's pretty awesome progress for just over a year. Pity you didn't have your locks when you were younger, but thankfully you're not one cursed with MPB!
Hey, we hope you're with us for years to come! Hope that's not a reference to severely ill health! If so/if not, keep well anyways!
Envying your update,
-Christian Epp
Thanks Christian, I'm in good health for someone whos been in a wheelchair 31 yrs., all Thanks for the health go to The Lord God Almighty.
Frank
You've made great progress and your hair is looking super!
I'd like for myself more of your type of waves than my curls, anyway Thanks for the kind words.
Frank
Looks awesome man! That's about the length I want mine.
Thanks Mike, just don't make the mistake I did back in '07, where I decided to cut my bangs short so I could just brush my hair back. It's taken a bit longer for the bangs to grow out. All the best to you in your hair journey.
Frank
BIG difference, especially from the back. It's looking quite nice, as wavy hair usually does.
Well done!
Chris
Thanks Chris, waiting for the sides and front to catch up.
Frank

Your hair looks fantastic, Frank. I see a lot of progress. I am glad MLHH has been so helpful to you in reaching your long hair goals. You are yet another MLHH success story.
Helping men to reach their longhair goals our main purpose. Another purpose, almost as important, is for networking with other longhairs. I have met some great people through this site.
Scott
Thanks Scott, I appreciate all the good info and support this forum provides.
Frank
What a nice looking mane Frank!
You're perfectly fine with curly left side. I have yet to see a head of hair that is symmetrical on both sides.
Do keep it growing!
- Oren
Thanks Oren, we'll keep it growin!
Frank
Lol, Frank, you really have gorgeous hair !!! Actually, your hair type it's very similar to mine, but I'm still in the awkward stage and my hair doesn't look good at all. So I hope one day I'll have hair like yours.
Keep the hair growing !!! :-)
Luben
Thanks Luben, if you're not already using Jojoba or Coconut Oil, you might consider them. I still use them daily to help tame my hair.
All the best to you in your hair journey.
Frank
That's a hell of a lot of progress Frank! Fantastic progress, you have the kind of wavy hair texture I would love to have. But it does sound like quite a lot of work!
Very cool look Frank, very cool.
Thanks Chris, it's not to much work to taske care of, just cost a bit more than it did with shorter hair! :-)
Frank
Hey Frank :)
I was wondering how long have you been growing out your hair in your avatar pic ? I see that your hair is a lot longer now, but I really want the hair lenght of your ava pic :D.
Hi Luen, since I didn't start from a buzz cut or really short hair, it's kind of hard to say, but I'm guessing about 18 or 19 months in the back and about 16 in the front.
Thanks.
Frank
