Long story short: It's long enough to braid!
Short story long:
Hey y'all, I used to be a member here ages ago, since I can't get my avatar changed for the Leito account, I'm getting a new one.
If some of you remember, I'm from Egypt, and back a few years ago I had clashes with my dad twice, first when I was in high school and I had ran from home because he told me to not come home if I didn't get a haircute, back then I was supported and even one member said he had a relative in Egypt and he could get me a place to stay for a couple of days.
Next time was in college, a year and a half ago I think, my hair was in the awkward phase again and it looked like sh!t, my dad once again was pushing the haircut and in the end he said he wouldn't pay my college tuition if I didn't get a haircut, and I did again.
Third time he tried to push it was last September, I couldn't take that bullcrap anymore so I left for good and found a job (I had about a dollar left by the time I found it), and with the support of my friends I made it through the first week till I got paid.
This morning I discovered my hair was long enough to be braided, I couldn't sleep for about 4 hours, I made braids on all sides and in all directions, it was a mess but I loved it. I'm having a bad hair day because of it but I can't wait to get home to braid it some more.
Thank god, I'm out of the awkward phase at last!! I've been there for too many years.
Oops, that pic doesn't show anything, I forgot how this place works and thought if I put it there it would be my profile picture, disregard that pic people as I don't have any pictures of it at full length now.
Keep at it. Back many years ago my dad and I went round and round about my hair as well. He gave up saying anything to me about it about 10 years ago when he realised that I wasn't going to cut it anymore especially since I was out on my own. Now I've got the longest hair in the family, and this includes all the long haired women, although my daughters did give me a run for the longest hair before their mother hacked it off just after our divorce. I was none too happy about that. Anyway, keep at it. The longer my hair got after I was finally able to allow it to grow, the more I liked it.

Good for you! Let me tell you, there is nothing better than being out on your on. There is truth is the statement, "you can never go home again". You really don't want to.
Living with your folks after you have tasted the freedom of being out on your on is... uh, unpleasant.
It was always my mom who went against me on the hair thing. It was my good fortune that it was the 70's and everybody had hair at least over their ears. She had "fashion" against her. hehe
Keep it growing,
Paul
