But I made an appointment at the hair stylist tomorrow. Cant find a WELL Paying job If ya dont look like all the SHEEP
My wife keeps saying " It'll grow back after ya land the job"

Steve
PS.. My truck might break down on the way there... yeah thats it
I feel your pain brother man! Last year I lost my old job after 6 years of loyal service. Managed to find something else shorty afterwards. I'm not married, no kids etc... still money goes way too fast with no job and bills to pay. In times like these, just gotta take what you can get and stick with it.
Best of luck to you in your search and yep, hair always comes back, just takes forever!
Mike,
Thanks man Ive been with a family biz for 15 years and now its gone.
Your right it takes fooooorrrrreeevvveerrr..........
Talk to you again when its a growin
Steve
That's very unfortunate and I wish you well. Although having longhair can make it harder to find a job having short hair doesn't guarantee success either.
Good luck, it's been fun
Kevin
Kevin,
Thats very true, but since Im tying for a maanament position in the construction feild they always want you to look like them.
Could not go to the solon as of yet
I'll be back when I start growin again
Peace
Steve
I really feel for you, man.
I had short hair when I got hired at my present and job and just grew it long while already here. I'm worried that I'm going to have a hard time getting a similar job with my long hair should I lose this one.
It's especially hard in your case with having a family to support. Hair discrimination just plain flat-out sucks.
Jason,
Hey thanks man , I could not go to the solon today, like my hair too much
hope it doesnt have to happen to you too with times being what they are
Peace
Steve
I'm really sorry to hear this.
During these financial times, a job is more important than hair at the end of the day, but maybe you should wait on the haircut.
I have long hair, I am not the most handsome guy, I don't have any real degree or anything, but I have managed to get hired two times while having long hair, I'm currently at my second job, and neither of the employers I have been working for have had any probem with my hair.
Maybe instead of cutting it all short, you could trim it a little bit and go job hunting.
If any of the jobs have problems with long hair, you could tell them that long hair doesn't affect your work, but if it is necessary, you would cut it short.
Don't cut it yet if you don't want to, many workplaces don't have any problems with long hair. Mostly the smaller companies or privately owned businesses tend to be more laid back. It's these big corporations that for some reason think that Long hair on males affects their work ethics or something.
When you go to a job interview, just wear what you would normally wear, and put a side part for your hair and put it in a low bun.
A nicely combed and tied long hair looks a hundred times more professional than short and messy hair.
Thanks Mane Man
Could not go to the Salon taday, its harder than i thought. Thanks for the advise. Never tried the bun idea but I 'll see how it goes
Steve
I'd say try to find a job with your hair first. Cutting your hair isn't going to solve all your problems instantly. If you do cut your hair, you can at least keep it until you actually have to go in for the interview. Hope you can find something while keeping your hair. Best of luck.
Thanks Garth
Good advise man, I just couldnt bring myself to cut it yet. Want to see if I can acquire employment without doing the dreaded " cut "
Thanks again
Steve
That sucks that you have to bend to avoid discrimination. And in the so called "Free World" . . . Well, I'll wish you good luck in job finding, and also wish you don't thin, so you can get your epic mane back again!
Hope you come back from time-to-time,
-Christian Epp
P.S. It's great that you have a wife that sounds really supportive, and it's great to see you really care for your family to off the locks. Long hair or not, you're still a good role model.
Thanks Christian,
Havnt cut them as of yet, I think I'll do what Garth suggested try to get job with with my hair or at least up to time I get an interiew
Yes , my wife is great with her support
Thanks for your kind words and understanding
Steve
I feel for you man!
Although, I see construction as one of the jobs that's longhair friendly. I'd wait on the haircut.
One of the tactics I've used is to call and talk to the builder, remodleler or whoever it is you're trying to get on with. This type of "interview" is more informal and they can't see you.
But of course, I work in residential. I'm guessing you work in commercial so this may not work.
Hell, just put it in a tail and go to the interview.
Good luck,
Paul
Hey Paul,
Thanks for the advise, Im in residential, but I havnt had the guts to cut it yet.
Thats what I plan to do , just put it in a tail and at the end of the interview ask if its a problem.
Constructions freindly for the workers not for management which Im kind of both since Im good with my hands.
Thanks again brother
Steve
My advice is "don't ask" unless they bring it up. Don't invite a problem. If the interview seems to be going in a positive direction, and they haven't mentioned it, leave it be. There's a good chance they don't care if they don't feel the need to ask about it.

Glinka,
I am sympathetic to your taking the safe road, but I believe the struggle is over.
Looking around me in Asheville, NC, I do not think hair length matters. I see men in all trades and all professions in long hair.
It seems the criteria is tie it up in some form on the job. Otherise, be neat and clean, and it seems nothing else matters except being on time and doing your job.
We must guard against the assumption that long haiar rules us out. It many cases it may rule us in.
