It's been 5 months since my last haircut, next month I'm pretty sure I'll be starting the "weird stage" as I call it.
Anyway, I use Suave Conditioner. I use it every 3rd night in the shower. Hair gets washed everday. If I rinse it just enough to get the excess conditioner out, then my hair looks dull and itches alot, like it is now. However if I rinse it too much, then I'd be negating the benefits of conditioner and it look like I stuck my tongue to a transformer.
Is there a general rule of thumb for rinsing out conditioner and finding a right medium?
Hi Mike, maybe you can try not washing it so much. How about every other day and wash it with just conditioner instead of shampoo. Try using shampoo just once a week. I hear some folks water down some conditioner in a spray bottle and use it on your dry hair everyday. O, and try not to blow dry, let it dry on it's own. While everyone has their own hair routine I find washing less works for me and a little Jojoba or Coconut oil are good too.

If I go one day without washing it, it feels like a greaseball on top of my head. Can't imagine a week. If I do go a day without washing, I need to blowdry it so it doesn't look so bad and itch like crazy. My hair is somewhat coarse(sp?)
I think this is the most I've thought about my hair in the 26 years I've been alive lol! I'll have to try the conditioner alone thing, see how that pans out. Thanks for the replies!
There's really no rule on how to wash hair, you just have to try out different things and see what works for you the best. Trial ad error.
When I first started growing my hair I didn't know anything about conditioners, I just shampooed my hair every single day and that was it. Luckily my scalp has always been pretty oily, so my body took care of conditioning the hair.
One thing is, your hair might still be too short to put conditioner in.
If you use shampoo, conditioner isnät usually applied on the scalp, only on the ends of your hair. Usually from the ears down.
If you wash your hair every day, you might want to start washing it every second day.
Washing your hair so often is fine when it is short, but when it's long it's really damaging the ends of your hair, and everytime you wash your scalp you are washing out all the natural oils.
So maybe try washing it every second day and start using conditioner after every shampooing. You just have to make sure you rinse out all the excess products.
