Here's an intersting story that was on NPR this morning about how one's hair changes from straight to curly or vice versa...
A Hair Mystery: Curly Hair Gone Straight
---------------------------------------------
Hi Brad, this can and does happen. As we go through life our body chemistry can change. My friend Bill has had his hair go from curly to straight. My hair texture has not changed much during my lifetime and I am 56 years old.

On a similar vein, hair color can change as you go along (and not talking about going gray). My middle son was born with thick black hair. After a month or so it shifted to a dark red, and then finally settled on blonde by the time he was about six months old.
And my father had reddish-brown hair as a child, but a childhood illness caused his hair to temporarily fall out. When it grew back in, it came in almost black. However, in later years, on the rare occasions that he let his facial hair grow out, it was still reddish-brown.
