As I see there are quite a few metalheads here, I would just like to know what bands you guys like...
To round out my taste
Mine are:
Black Metal: DISSECTION, Darkthrone, Immortal, Mayhem, Nachtmystium, Sargiest, Xasthur, Deathspell Omega, etc
Death Metal: Decapitated, Arsis, Atheist, Hail of Bullets, Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession
Doom Metal: Candlemass, Sunn O))), Saturnus, (I need to listen to more doom!)
Metalcore: (Even though you guys might hate me for it, but hey, I am in a metalcore band lol) As I Lay Dying, Reapers are the Angels, Abigail Williams
The genres I listen to the most are,
gothic: After forever, Epica, Arkona
folk: Korpiklaani, Thyrfing, Ensiferum, Finntroll
Black / death: Emperor, Dark tranquility

arkona from russia?they are actually a pagan/folk band.
I don't believe they are goth in the slightest.
I placed in gothic because it´s female fronted, but your right maybe it's not the right name for arkona.
But is doesn't matter what type it is as long as I like it :)

Most of my metallic preferences are for what used to be known as "metal" in the 80's -- Poison, Cinderella, etc. I'm not really in the loop as far as the current stuff goes, but I do like Mastodon, Sepultura, and few others.
Cool list man, aside from the metalcore lol...though Abigail Williams really re-defined themselves as great black metal on their last album.
Black: Emperor, Nokturnal Mortum, Gorgoroth, WITTR, Samsas Traum
Power: Rhapsody, Thy Majestie, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian
Death: At the Gates, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Death
Gothic: Emilie Autumn, Ayria, Epica, Draconian, Cradle of Filth (my guilty pleasure, sorry to all you kvlt tr00ists).
My power & black metal list would go on forever but those are my faves. I love epic/symphonic black and power metal. Dissection and Arsis are KILLER by the way.
Aside from the metalcore you have great taste.

I forgot WITTR, Black Cascades is one of their greatest albums followed by Two Hunters.
Absolutely, I could go on and on with black metal man...I'd guess my bm collection alone is about 400 cds...yes I'm a bit crazy. All the ones you mentioned are awesome, Storm the Light's Bane is amazing.

Great list of bands, I listen to a lot of them and gonna check out the ones I don't.
And there is absolutely no shame in listening to cradle of filth, just listen whatever you like is my motto. I don't care how klvt or trve the band is.
Thanks Vincent, your list is great too, folk metal is awesome, especially in the fall months haha. Yea I agree, it was meant sarchastically to those that are in that mindset, not that any on this forum really are. Take care man.

im not too crazy about black or death metal tbh not my taste of metal but i do like some badass Power Metal bands! and def Doom/Epic metal and old school Heavy Metal!
Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal: Black Sabbath,Ozzy Osbourne,Metallica,Pantera,Slayer
Power/Epic Metal: Iced Earth,Grave Digger,Saxon,Angel Dust,Demons and Wizards,Stormwarrior,Wizard,Dark Moor,Metal Church,Hammerfall,Helloween,Iron Maiden,DIO etc...
and other different kind of Metal bands I like are Cannibal Corpse,Cradle of Filth,In Flames,Soilwork etc
For metalcore I really like Hatebreed.

Viking metal-bathory,morrigan,kromlek,helheim,falkenbach(blackened folk metal),moonsorrow,
Pagan metal-Hellveto,Arkona,Kampfar,wyrd,
i like a crap load more of bands but this is all that comes to mind.
You have pretty good taste!! My favourite of all those is Moonsorrow, especially their latest 2 albums.

I'm a huge true metal fan. I actually despise anything with the slightest hint of core, hence my hatred for the newer Exodus.
\I can understand what you mean by that, metalcore gets boring in music flow with all the breakdown, but even the guys in the band consider me the metalhead of the group. Black Metal will always be superior.
Black metal ist krieg. You should be like Frédéric Leclercq from Dragonforce and be the only one in the band with corpsepaint to prove how kvlt you really are.

Traditional/heavy: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Dio
Power metal: Angra, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Falconer, Twilightning, Silent Force, Firewind, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen
Progressive: Dream Theater, Circus Maximus, Evergrey, Symphony X, Queensrÿche, Adagio, Pain of Salvation, Spheric Universe Experience, Pagan's Mind, Vanden Plas, Richard Andersson
Progressive death: Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Opeth, Arch Enemy
Thrash: Megadeth, (old) Metallica, Kreator, Annihilator, Testament
But I do like the harder stuff too
Groove: Nevermore, Pantera, Meshuggah
and even death metal: Death, Bloodbath

This is a pretty good representation of the metal i listen to, but im really open minded with most metal (except deathcore).
Fantastic taste in Power & Black man. They'd all be on my list if I felt like typing more haha. Marduk, Ensiferum, Sonata, Naglfar...all amazing.
