I'm tired of being discriminated at school for my hair
people should just lay the hell off
im 14 and i have my hair down to just below my shoulder blades, i expected some harassment but wow i started a new school today and thats the only thing that was said to me was "cut your hair" or "is that a girl?"
only 1 very friendly girl said hi to me, thats it.
happened to me all through middle school and so far in high school.
you just learn to deal with it =/. they're just not used to seeing someone with that long of hair, they'll get used to it
Congratulations on starting at a new school... sorry your first day was filled with such discriminatory remarks. Judging by the picture, you've got a great head of hair, and you have every right to be proud of it. Just stay true to yourself. Genuine, authentic people tend to gravitate toward each other... I'm sure some likewise true-hearted people will discover you soon enough.

Hey man, forget those jerks. The girl is what really matters, eh? ;)
It's sad to hear how even the generations of people who should be the most innocent and free-minded tend to buy that s*** about having to cut long hair on men.
But nevertheless, as the others said, try not to pay attention and do continue growing it. As the time goes by, you'll find more longhairs and people who think similarly. Endure because of those who really can esteem you. I can't remember which philosopher said: "It is better to live for one's own wishes than to die for those of others."
Hang in there, Anthony! Don't get discouraged. Your hair looks great and they're probably jealous. It would be a shame to cut it, so stick to your guns!
Take care and keep it growin'!

Are these people important to you? If not just ignore them.
Hey Anthony
I'm very sorry to hear that things haven't changed much for young male longhairs in the decades since I was 14 and a longhair in a public school and endured the same kind of crap. You will find that these kinds of public displays of intolerance will lessen as you get older. You just have to be patient. It's not easy being a longhair, but somebody's got to set an example, and it looks like in your school, the mantle has fallen to you! There is a saying "an unrecognized visitor will flee". Ignore them.
As a high school teacher, I offer you the following words:
1. Discrimination will always exist. If they didn't discriminate against you because of your hair, they would discriminate against you for something else.
2. I hope that your comment of "people should just lay the hell off" was said in frustration. The message sends a very negative tone out to me as a reader. Ask yourself if what you say and do at school send out the same negative vibes. Maybe it's not just the hair.
3. You title your entry "Publick skewlz." While message boards and the internet in general aren't noted for their correct writing and grammar skills, I hope your spelling here is out of laziness and not a lack of education.
There isn't anything wrong with him wanting people to "lay the hell off" him about his hair. Why should he convey a "positive tone" when it's obvious he is angry with the discrimination he is receiving?
Are you serious? Intentional misspelling is extremely common online.
So are men with short hair, that doesn't justify it.
I assumed it was a comment on the kwality of publik edyookayshun?
Not too impressed with my kids' schools.
It was really just a comment on how much I hate internet misspellings and the use of "U", "R", "2", and "4" in place of the actual words.
Thank you.
That was the whole point of my comment about the misspellings earlier. While some may have no problem with the shortcuts in spelling online, the difficulty is that these misspellings and distortions of the English language have made their way into the formal written word of student essays, research papers, and written assessments.
I completely agree. When I was a TA, and now as a tutor for biomechanics, I get emails that are written in internet lingo. I have to go through and try to decipher the emails before I can read them.
I don't mind intentional misspellings, as long as:
1. You know the *right* way to spell what you're misspelling.
2. You don't overdo it.
3. You have at least some conception that there might be a wrong time to use it.
All I can say is, just be thankful you don't get essays in 13375p33k or somethin'! ;-P

The fault isn't the lingo itself, it's the failure of your students to understand their target audience.
On a casual forum like this, "publik skewl" is kewl. I'd never send something like that to a prof though.
Hi Anthony,
I always hate to hear about guys your age taking heat about their hair at school. Its a shame you go to a new school and that's the welcome you receive.Well at least one girl said Hi and didn't follow it up with a statement that you should cut your hair.Maybe there is hope for these people.Cheers
Mark
People should lay the hell off. I don't bust on people for short hair, so they should have the same respect for long hair.
One very friendly girl is all you need, LOL!
