This evening I found myself standing in the bathroom, looking in the mirror and wondering where my scissors were.
As some of you may know, I've been growing my hair out (from a zero crop) since December 2000. What's that, 15 months? Anyway, I thought that by now it'd be looking good... or if not good, then at least it would be getting a bit less awkward.
But it's not - instead of 'puffy' hair, I now have... well, God knows how to describe it - the front in kinked, the back is curly and the sides have flick-ups! :-(
Yeah, yeah, I know... wait two weeks before cutting it. I know that if I hacked it off now, I;d probably regret it in the morning. I'm just here because it's a good way of distracting myself!

It will end! Just hang in there!
The last thing you want is to look at a longhair a year from now and say to yourself, "if I'd only waited a little longer..."
Hang in there!
It does end, Im just beginning to come out of it now and my hair is starting to look more like I want it to.
OK guys, thanx. I'll stick with it!

15 months? I'd say you are probably nearing the end of the awkward stage. About 2 years does it for most people. So just nine more months to go, and it will start to look real good. Actually, from now on, you should start to notice it getting better as you approach the end. Your patience will be rewarded.
So get your hair trimmed. If you let them cut off an inch you might be happy with the results.
Is your hair long enough to gather into a little ponytail?
My hair was like yours during the first time when I grew out and I found that ponytailing (even if it ends up as a hilarious stub behind me) makes my hair neater. You'll also be surprised by the straightness of your hair when you remove the hair tie.
You can try it, at least it works for me :)
