Yeah, as some of you might know, about 3 and a half weeks ago, I cut my hair short.
Yeah I know it's a stupid thing to do, especially after last time, but here me out. I do fully intend to grow it back out, but lucky for me, I no longer have hair dye or the undercut.
Last time I grew my hair out, I basically repeated all the mistakes that made me cut my hair in the first place over two years ago. As you saw, I dyed it many times over the last two years, which in the end made my hair brittle and damaged. The undercut looked horrendous, and I just didn't want to maintain it anymore. This was I'll be able to grow it all out without having to deal with the undercut.
I'm going to start doing my monthly updates but this time I'm not going to have unnecessary trims like I did last time (check my website out to see what I mean)and hopefully it will look decent again in no time.
A good thing about the hairgrowing process, I will be able to experiment with styles as it grows out, and even though 3 weeks ago I couldn't even spike my hair it was that short, I now can. So it appears to be growing at a quickish rate.
I know last time I was lazy when it came to my progress website, but seeing as I started again with the hair, I'll start again with the site and actually update it monthly.
Sorry to have to have done this, but hair grows, and I fully intend to grow mine out again.

My Hair Website
Nostradamus and I both predicted this.
The thing that gets me are all the updates and all the kind replies that people took the time to write the first time then the second for what? I can see one mistake as people like to experiment with their hair but when you coloured a second time I think I commented it will just be a matter of time, and it was.
Brace yourself as some people will no doubt give you a very hard time and I don't blame them.
Kevin
I can see what you're saying, but it's just hair. It will grow back.
Jesus, this place really has become more hostile than it used to be...
Its not any more hostile than it ever was, but many of us are on here every day, you are not so I don't think you can throw your dummy across the room on such an assumption.
In fact we have as many wonderful people as we ever have.
Indeed we do Dave even if some of us have some warped humour!
Ok fair enough then to you it's just hair.
So how about the teenager who wants to grow his hair out but his
parents are insistent he get it cut? It's a matter of persona
l freedom.
It's just hair.
Then there's the young man growing it out and having issues
cause it's thick or wavy or in his eye's. He really wants long
hair but it's hard getting through the awkward stage and needs
advice.
It's just hair.
How about the bloke who's having trouble getting a job because
so many employers discriminate? He really want's to keep his
hair although it may not define him as a person it's a part of
his identity and he wants to keep it, and he also want's to eat
and a roof over his head.
It's just hair.
Or we have the guys who are loosing their hair or watching it
thin as they age and they've had hair for a long time and are
very unhappy at the prospect of loosing it
It's just hair.
Lastly as I mentioned there's the people who are committed for
various reasons to helping others with advice and encouragement
as well as those who put in a lot of time and effort to keeping
a community like this going. A sometimes thankless job that we
do none the less because perhaps it's more than just hair
If it were just hair then why would we bother?
Perhaps this better explains it and hopefully you don't find it hostile.
Kevin
I apologise. I didn't mean to come across as an asshole.
There DOES come a time when an apology has been heard so many times that it is no longer heard.........let alone believed.
But then again, it's just hair and it's just an apology.
Of hair and an apology
tis become a bit of a game-
with excuses upon excuses
so feeble and ever so lame.
I completely agree with Kevin. I think that if "it's just hair" to you, maybe you aren't in the right place. In case you hadn't realized it, this is for men with long hair, not men that like to grow out their hair a bit and then cut it off. Mistakes happen, but you should learn from them, not do the same thing again after being warned about dyeing and undercuts. The hostility comes when people offer you advise and you do the opposite, which is the same as saying "your advise is stupid".
Aye. I'd personally do almost anything to be able to keep my hair growing. But I really need a job at the same time, and I can't have both. I either comply to the company standards and earn an income or keep my hair and go jobless...
*hug*
ditto
Are you going to ditch the makeup this time as well?
Heh heh, I liked him in makeup! As long as he doesn't overdo it, I'm fine with it.
I have to agree with Kevin C here. You come and ask for advice and it is given, you learn of mistakes and say that you won't repeat them then here we go again you have cut a second time.
People here will willing advise and support and many have been grateful - I was 6 years back but to simply dismiss all this with your words "I can see what you're saying, but it's just hair. It will grow back" really is simply taking the piss.
You need to grow up and realise that here people are serious about their hair and that time wasters are not popular.
The thing is mate, you have always received the utmost support from the community here, and to be honest you have never been 'serious' about your hair growth.
But you hardly ever reply to the support or engage on the board or offer support to anyone else (maybe thats a good thing).
So yeah, whateva!!
Hi Chris,
Waves...bye!
Cheers,
John.B
Promises, promises, promises........let alone a ton of Blah, blah, blahs!
Ever hear of the boy who Cried Wolf?
Aha! So NOW I know who that kid was!
Time to rehearse for a new act:
"The 3 Billy Goats BLUFF!"
Hey man no worries. We all like to change up our look every once in a while. You're still young and you have plenty of time to grow it back.
At least you got a taste of short hair again and immediately regret it...show's the true longhair within lol...unfortunately it's gonna be a long way back. Good luck on growing it long again; you know this community does not support cutting but we certainly support growing it and you say that's what your going to do so you have my support.
Take care man, look forward to an update on your future growth progress!
-Phil
I whole heartedly thank you for this comment. It certainly contrasts with the others.
And yeah, I do regret cutting it. Alot.
Hey Chris,
Sorry to hear about your hair troubles but you really got to just
let it grow and stop messin with all that stuff you put in it.Being this
isn't your first fallout as a longhair you are seeing some harsh critisism.
That is to be expected as this is a mens longhair site dedicated to that.
I dislike it when uses who cut and then are critisized then say the board
is mean spirited which it is not.I mean if you visit a dicussion board and
say it's just only this or that about what it stands for the users will take offense.
Anyway good luck to you and I hope you achieve your goals whatever
they may be.
Mark
Sorry to hear the mistakes you made again led to the loss of your hair.
The reaction you get over here are because you don't listen to our advise. Hope it get's to you this time, you're never to old to learn and you're young!
Don't gonna spend any more words on this, you know that you made the mistake and your the one who has to live with it.
Sorry to hear this, Chris. Anyway, you got a lot of negative reactions, I see. I'd say it's normal since it's not the first time. But, you're not the only one !
Good new growth (without all the same mistakes !) and I hope to see you on the board in the future.
Bye
Vivien
Hi Chris,
Unlike some of the harsher critics here I will not condemn you for cutting your hair short again. You are at an age where your still experimenting with dyes, hair styles etc (and learning the hard way too!) and the old trite saying those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it aplies here.
Hell, another MLHB guy - Jason on his website did a similar thing on his journey to longer hair too, growing it longer and then cutting it for awhile until he got it "just right".
I was personally disappointed in you cutting your hair as long hair appeared to really suit you and the hair in your regular updates didn't look all that bad.
Here's to hoping that the 3rd time growing out is for keeps and this time your hair will be in optimal condition from learning from past mistakes.
In the end it's your hair and do what ever makes you happy.
Best Wishes,
Duncan
Comparing cutting due to one's religion at the time requiring it and cutting it based on the reasons given by Chris is not a fair comparison.
My entire social network at the time was based on my religion, not to mention having faith in the religion itself.
should not remotely be considered in Jasons case.
Despite ALL adverse things, Jason triumphs with great long hair and has been with us for MANY years and given valuable and faithful service. He has commented on others updates, given us valuable info and insight, keeps track of and was the one to have set up our links section for us which is of tremendous value. And he has done so as a labor of love to help "ALL" of we guys. The list can go on and on of what Jason HAS contributed through the years.
But of the one in question?????????????
His contributions???????????
His comments about others??????????
Of what he has done to contribute??????????
His encourgement to others??????????????
and Blah, blah, blah
Thanks for the kind words, Justin.
I entirely agree the two situations are nowhere near analgous. Jason was not able to exercise his own choice as set out with terrible pressures against him including his religion parents and friends who were part of that.
Here you have every oportunity to grow but you seek advice then reject it twice. You then have the chek to insult everyone here by saying 'it is only hair'. Most of us cherish our hair, it is a part of us and we willingly take the jibes etc which say we are wrong - some even threaten earning a wage in a job.
By all means experiment with you hair - just don't do it here and think that we are going to oput up with your approach.
Hello again. I didn't make myself too clear - there was clearly a misunderstanding and it was taken in a broader content then it was meant to be. I was referring to the actual action of using hair dye and cutting off long hair - not the reasons behind it.
Jason and PhoenixEX both used hair dyes, both experimented with different hair trims, (if you see Jason's hair history from way back in 2006 and earlier you can see that) both cut their hair short again (due to different reasons then grew it back out. That was the comparision I was making and nothing other then the physical actions.
Jason has contributed greatly to the MLHB on many levels whilest PhoenixEX has largely used it to promote his own vanity with the overload of pics every 4 weeks or so. I do believe that PhoenixEX will stay the course the 3rd time around as he obviously still wants long hair.
Glad to see your gotten over the organised religion Jason (or else found a group of spiritual Christians who don't have hangups about hair) It's possible to be a real "free" christian without being a member of any particular religious sect. Organised religion is way too petty for my liking - it stiffles the spirit with the authoritarian stuff, you have to do this you have to do that while missing out on the spiritual stuff that matters.
Duncan
Hi Duncan,
Thank you for the clarification.
I'm not necessarily against using wash-out hair dyes like I did as recently as June 2007. It has washed out and some of that hair is still on my head.
Use of black dye, however, like Chris did is pretty much permanent and not a good idea if you're interested in keeping the hair on your head longterm.
Jason
Hello Chris,
I didn't you cut your hair, but I am sure you made the right decision. We will watch your internet site to see how it grows back !! succes !!
