If you're gonna cut your hair or do something funky to it, dont make an announcement here about it. If you're dying to tell someone, tell your friends about it. Make a myspace bulletin about it, twitter it, just dont post it here. Problem solved!
Eh trimmers! :D

Fantastic Advise, my young friend !
Thanks for Sharing

Indeed well said! Better copyright that lol!
Cheers,

Especially if it's the second time making the same mistake
and you've been advised not to do it again.
I agree w/ you 100%, DiO!! And, don't forget: it's always safe (well, "usually", at least - lol) to tell your mother.... When I made the stupid mistake of cutting my own hair short back in Y2K, for example, my mom got tired of hearing me moan and groan about it. "Oh, for Heaven's sake," she suddenly burst out at me one day, "Just shut up and get a wig!!"
ROLF, --- maybe it's best NOT to even tell your mother!!!

That's right! So many people posted hair cutting and of course, regreted it afterwards.
Great, another dig at me...
I'm wanting to move on from this, I know I made a mistake and I admitted to that. And I understand you giving me a hard time about it guys, but what done is done. I'm willing to move on from this, so how about you guys?

Fair enough. As long as you're trying to grow long hair, I'll be here to encourage you and help keep you motivated.

P.S.--It would, however, be decent of you to contribute to this community by offering support, encouragement, and congratulations to others trying to grow their hair, as well. It's give-and-take, bro.
Hi Val,
Since "once upon a time" I used to be one of the Moderators here (I'm trying to remember... I think it was from late '04 or early '05, to Jan 1st, 2007 - LOL), contributing community support is definitely what this place is all about!
Nowadays I contribute here "irregularly" / "infrequently", at best; but, whenever possible, it's a great feeling to know that maybe i just might say something that might help someone out, encouraging them to grow, and/or at least encouraging someone to hang in there and not cut. Long hair is "so easy to cut; so hard to grow!" And the fact that society in general still seems to be opposed to long hair on men is all the more reason why MLHH is so valuable in today's world.
The give-and-take concept is so beneficial on many fronts People who take only, --- expecting to recieve our support, yet never volunteering anybody else much --- need to understand that human patience is limited. I've read a few comments made by a few members below something to the effect that "this place has gotten meaner" (or something like that)... Being genuinely mean-spirited is a character flaw that is easy to recognize, because usually those who indulge in such behavior are CONSISTENTLY mean, --- but, I don't see that as the case here. An occasional sarcastic or biting comment is sometimes just cutting through the BS by stating simple honesty. I feel that the average members here are no more "cruel-hearted" than an average vet is "cruel-hearted" towards a suffering kitty-cat! What you've done here, Val, is hit the nail on the head by saying what you just said here... So, THANKS!!!
- Ken
Thanks, I appreciate it.
And yes, I am gonna be more frequent on here. I completely understand that as a message board, it is a two way thing.

After all is said and done you are still welcome here as you still want to be a longhair. To be fair no one expects any user to reply to all threads obviously but occasionally some returned encouragement or other engagement is a polite thing to do. I'm glad to here you will be participating more. and certainly your not the only one who had a history of posting updates getting replies and not saying much in return. It's my hope that this experience will cause a few of those to be more self aware and chime in once in a while.
Lessons learned by you and anyone else listening.
Cheers
Kevin
"I'm gonna cut my hair, I'm gonna cut my hair..."
I glad I'm not the only one sick to death of hearing this.
What I want to hear is "I'm gonna GROW, my hair and don't give a rats a** what my mom says about it,"
Thanks DiO for having a pair,
Paul
fool me twice, shame on me! When you get fooled the third time, it's human nature to resort to either sarcasm or harsh realism. The dearth of hair cutting announcements has become frustrating for many, since the focus of the board id *long* (cough-cough) *hair*. I can understand the few unfortunates who were forced to due to employment needs or military conscript, they are looking for a sympathetic ear from those who can truly understand their plight, and did not want to face the dreaded scissors. It's these fickle folk who with low tolerance thresholds for the time and commitment involved, unsure and wishy-washy, fretting over frizz and poufiness; they cut, grow it out, cut, grow it out, ad nauseam; they are wearing the patience thin of the most dedicated MLHH member.
BTW, your word of advice is appropriately "ON-TOPIC", as it has everything to do with support for *long* *hair*.
