Hey guys I have been about 15 months without a haircut most is in a ponytail except for a few bangs. When I let it down it is totally uneven of course because the bangs have farther to grow then the back of my head. Anyway, at what point should I get it trimmed? And should I only get it trimmed a little at a time so the bangs may catch up? That way it doesn't look that significant. Thanks.

Take it from one who messed up and got 2 "trims" the last year while trying to grow it out. DON'T DO IT.......
I have been growing for about 13 months now and my bangs pulled tight are touching my top lip. The back is about an inch below the bottom of my collar. I figure if I had NOT gotten any "trims" the back would be about 2 inches longer and the bangs about 1 inch longer. Hopefully I can get a tail going (without the bangs) in the next couple of weeks.
I understand. But at some point I will have to get it trimmed so when I let it down it will look even. I was asking what is the best way to go about that.

Sorry....Try to find a stylist that will listen to you and understand what you want before the sissors start going. That was my problem. I talked while she cut instaed of watching what she was doing.
if you see the ends are damaged and split, dry etc., then would be the time. If your hair is healthy, you don't have to worry. Go out and buy a couple of men's magazines and look through them til you find a style or cut that you like. When you go to get your trim take the picture and/or pictures with you and show the stylist so SHE KNOWS what you have in mind. I would not worry about the bangs catching up. Once you do start trimming, twice a year should be enough. If your ends looked frayed and frazzled DEFINITELy go get them trimmed off, no hair is better than bad hair.
Personally, I think it would look better if the hair gradually got longer from the bangs toward the back, so I say, "YES, have your hair trimmed."
The thing is, dude, it's YOUR hair. If you like it, keep it, if you don't, cut it. Right?
15 months? This is a really long time not to have your hair trimmed. Now, while it may lengthen the time it takes for hair to grow, trimming your hair can help prevent split ends, and dry hair, so that your hair, when it does get longer, is healthy.
