Hey all,
Even though this is regarding the show Seinfeld, I still think this is on topic. I am a huge Seinfeld fan and have noticed that almost every episode features several long hairs. Mostly as extras, however. Basically, if you are a fan, keep your eye out in any scene outside of one of their apartments and note all the awesome long hairs in the background.
Just a small observation which makes me enjoy Seinfeld even more haha. It's easy to catch not that it's onlike 10 times pre day over many channels!

There was an episode in which Elaine was dating a man with a ponytail, and Jerry gave her a hard time about the length of the guy's hair.
Jerry: "What's with the ponytail?"
Elaine: "What's wrong with the ponytail?"
Jerry: "Get real!"
Excellent recallection!
yea he had a mullet of sorts (long in back short in front) and I also recall the "Mimbo"; however keep your eye out and you'll see that they recruit many a long hair for extras!

I'm also a big Seinfeld fan, but come to think about it for a second, I don't think I remember any long haired men in the show. Guess I wasn't paying too much attention to that detail back then. Gotta watch them again. :)
Haha yea man keep your eye specifically on the extras...like people walking in the background of the city.
The first thing I thought of was that ponytail episode. Although it was more of a rat tail that was really long, because the rest of his hair was short. I'll have to look more closely at the extra now to search for longhairs. Shouldn't be too hard since I watch at least an hour of Seinfeld a day. Haha.

Haha same here, even if there's an episode on that you don't feel like watching there's usually another channel offering a different episode at any given time hehe.

The series producer Larry Charles has long hair and also appeared in many episodes as an extra.
Yesterday in the episode on TBS where they were searching for Kramer's car in the parking garage, he was the longhaired guy who ignored Elaine's plea for a ride around the garage to help look for the car. He also has appeared in many other episodes, uncredited.

Awesome find, that guy has a great beard too. They often reuse extras in Seinfeld. That kid who buys the Steinbrener Yankees birthday card is in like 10 episodes haha.

The episode today had Milosh, who played tennis with his hair in a ponytail. Maybe there are more longhairs on the show than I remember.
"Newman plays tennis?" "He's FANTASTIC!"
Yea Garth, another that comes to mind is the VanBuren Boys episode...the whole gang has awesome hair. I swear anytime the cast is in a public place there's tons of long hairs in the background, keep your eye out as a noble Seinfeld fan.

The sitcom _Frasier_ also caught my attention for hiring long-haired extras, especially during the scenes in the coffee shop. I mostly noticed this during the '90s (before Niles and Daphne realised they liked/loved each other), before I stopped watching regularly.
Tracy
That's good news Tracy, I've personally never watched Frasier though but that's awesome to hear that longhairs on primetime TV!

Hi Phil,
That's great to hear that longhairs are used in these programs as I bet there are more in them than real life I suppose.LOL.Hopefully that's not the case.As far as Seinfeld goes I'm one of the rare few who have never watched the show. For some reason I don't watch all that much TV anymore.Hmmmmm wonder why??Anyway thanks for bringing this to our attention.Cheers my friend!
Mark
Hey there are better things to do than watch TV Mark. I honestly only watch Seinfeld and the sunday Fox cartoon lineup lol (Simpsons, Family Guy..etc)
Thanks for responding Mark, looks like we're gonna have nice weather for Easter.

You don't watch Metalocalypse???
Indeed! I'm a huge fan of Metalocalypse and Aqua Teen but I have to resort to the DVDs or hulu lately. I start work @ 7AM so I don't stay up late enough most times...on weekends I have school but I'm graduating in 4 weeks so I'm looking forward to having the freedom of staying up late for Adult Swim haha.
Good call Garth!
Is that high school or college that you're graduating?
College...I basically got my associates a few years back, got a job and then decided to go back fulltime to get my bachelor's while working fulltime as my company offers generous tuition reimbursement. I go saturdays all day (as opposed to night classes) and it has taken only 2 years...the classes are accellerated and are only 7 weeks long each. Needless to say, I get a LOT of homework and I can't wait until a month from now cause I'll have my weekends and life back haha.
I just turned 25 by the way
-Phil
That's good that you can get your company to reimburse you. I had trouble guessing your age because it's hard to see your face in your avatar under all your awesome hair. I'm actually graduating college in May. I'm excited to graduate, but also a little worried about finding a real job out in the real world.
I'm ashamed to say I've seen every episode of Seinfeld at least once and never really noticed that. I guess I'm usually involved in the what the main characters are doing. You remind me that long ago I would rate shows for their LHPM factor (Long Hair Per Minute). I think the all the all time winner was Fame. Highlander was a classic, of course (until it jumped that long hair shark). I can't think of any great hair shows at the moment. My favorite hair watching show right now is Ghost Whisperer, but that's just the ladies. It's always fun to see how many different ways Jennifer Love can wear it. OK, it's always fun to watch Jen, no matter what.
