new thread
2 years since my hair has last had an encounter with a pair of scissors. I'm starting to notice a few more split ends so I might have my very long haired girlfriend trim them, taking off as little hair as possible.
Many thanks to all the fine men and women who helped me through the awkward stage and got me to where I am now.
My new goal is waist length, since I do not want to stop now :D

Is HORRIBLY outdated at this point. Im amazed at how much growth your mane's gotten in just 2 years, it looks great!
My avatar pic was from October 29, 2007. Right in the middle of the awkward stage. I'd like this update to replace my 1.5 year old avatar pic if all possible.

Wow (jaw drops!) what an update that's truely amazing change and it's good to know that our community here and help and you can certainly see that. Your hair looks in wonderful condition and we all get a few split ends. Do keep it growing and have you got a target length or see how it goes. Great to hear you have a g/d with longhair as well and someone the help with those split ends.

I never thought I would have hair this long after only 2 years and yes it's mostly due to coming back here for support. My goal was originally mid-back, which I should be by the end of this year probably. My new goal is waist length, but I'm sure I'll want to go longer once I get that length. And yes, i'd like to see my avatar updated, since it's already a year and a half old.

Ha ha. I'm the same way. My original goal when I started back in Dec 06 was collarbone length, which I'm now just past. My new goal is mid-back, which will probably become waist length when I reach that point. I might as well just say screw it and go for terminal length. :-)

Thank you for sharing your awesome update, and what tremendous progress you have made in 2 years. With your thick and straight hair, you should have no problem achieving your waist length gola, or even longer!

Great update. Your hair looks amazing and you definately should be able to reach your goal of waist length hair. Love the ponytail picture too yours is definately growing fast. As a guy just starting to let mine grow out, if mine looks half as good as yours ill be happy.

Thanks my goal length is middle of my back, however I can definately see myself going a little longer especially if my hair is nice and thick. What made you want to grow yours out and any advice for me growing mine?
awesome update dude! hairs looking better than ever and congrads on making the 2 year mark, i just made 2 years last month and im at 25 months wow the time flies! but good luck on reaching waist man im going for mid-back myself :)

Thanks Val! It's been a quick 2 years and I never knew I would be at this length after only 2 years. I haven't seen your hair updates in awhile. How's your hair coming along?
I've decided to post an update at the beginning of every other month. Just posted one for April (at 8 months growth from bald), and will be posting the next update at the beginning of June. August will mark the one-year point. You're right... it does go fast!

Thanks! I really cringe about the fact that I might have to trim off the hair I've ben so attached to (literally) for the last 2 years. Fortunately my girlfriend really wants me to keep growing and she will cut only the absolute minim off when the time comes to remove the split ends.

Hi Pat. Your hair looks nice, and don't worry about the split ends. They rarely go far. I do have split ends as well, but I am waiting for my hair to reach desired length before considering a trim. The reason why you went through the awkward stage faster is because your hair is straight. Wavy and curly hair (which I have) takes longer. Anyway, keep it growing.

Thanks for your comment an advice regarding my split ends. They PROBABLY don't need to be cut just yet, and I really feel resistant against putting scissors to my hair. I'll let it grow a few more inches before it's time to re-evaluate the split end problem.

Thanks! I like wearing these dreamcatchers when my hair is down. I also have a pair of 3" hoops that I wear often as well. I do prefer wearing large earrings when my hair is down, or multiple smaller hoops when my hair is in a tail.

Those are really cool. I like them (well, I like dreamcatchers in general) and they look good on you. I've concidered getting my ears pierced just so I could wear earrings like these myself, just haven't been able to bring myself to do the deed.

You should go ahead and get them done. Earlobe piercings are probably one of the most painless places to get pierced. I have three holes in each ear. The first holes I had done professionally and the other 2 sets I did myself with a sterile needle.
The sooner you go for it, the sooner they'll be healed and you too can wear what you want on your ears.

Thanks for your comment Hairball! Yes, this place has really helped me out especially during the awkward stage. I never imagined i'd get my hair this long without cutting it but to yours and everyone else's advice onhere, I finally feel like I'm a longhair now!
