Hi everybody, we've often discussed TV shows and the frequency of longhair on them but I don't think anyone has mentioned this one yet.
I've been watching Lost (ABC) since the first season. I think it's a cool-a** show. You really have to follow it from the beginning to understand what's going on. It gets a little complicated sometimes.
I have noticed something though, a bunch or 'em have longhair. Hurley has hair nearly as long as mine, keeps it in a tail. Sawyer has shaggy hair, not really long-long but at least it's not that box-head hair style. Sayid (did I spell it right?) has hair as long as Hurleys in some flash backs. Jack has short hair but he sucks anyway.
This season they've time traveled to the 70's and once again... stuck on the island. Well, over half the extras have long hair at least one is nearly to his waist! Awesome!
Most longhair friendly shows that are on this long jump the hair shark.
I remember Dead Zone, the show was great then Bruce got his dreds cut. After that the show went down hill and was finally canceled.
That 70's Show, Kelso got his hair cut above his ears and phttttt! down the drain.
There was a detective show in the 80's called Hardball. Old guy & young guy team up, all they have in common is baseball. The young one has very longhair. He gets it cut and the show ends with a little whimper.
Another show I just thought of which depicts a longhair who is not a criminal, Saving Grace (TNT). The detective Bobby Stillwater has hair to his waist.
Another good reason to watch this show is that Holly Hunter seems to get naked in every episode! Woohoo! A little lean but in damn good shape for 51.

Hey Paul, interesting that you mention Lost...I have thought about that in the past but I quit watching the show last season...just could not get into the time travel stuff and I couldn't follow what was happening...was too "all over the place" for me, but perhaps I should start watching it again. Never watched the other shows you mention but maybe I will try to catch Saving Grace. Thanks for the insight.
Hope you are having a great week.

I do so love this show, for reasons I cant go into right now....
But ya. I think the differences between Jack, Sawyer, and Syied are contrasted greatly by their hair.
If you read this article
http://www.choisser.com/longhair/rajsingh.html
It becomes clear How Sawyer and Syied are masters of their own destiny....
Yes, a little lost at times, just like everybody else, but they are not slaves to their culture like Jack is.
PS:
Hey Max... can you edit your post?
There are many people here who have not been following LOST and would really be into it.... but you mentioning time travel here.... its a big spoiler.
Sorry Zenjamin...can't edit what is already posted but perhaps the moderators can see that post and just delete it. Didn't mean to spoil here...
Cheers,
Max
I too am a big fan of the LOST show - most American TV shows are trash - this one however is one of the rare "gems".
This series has rivetted me from the start -never boring always everything and everyone is not what they appear to be.
I do like the universal theme that has been with the show and that everyone has is connected with one another and when we get to know people we realise that we often do have something in common through knowing the same person, visiting the same place or witnessing something at the same time when we were strangers.
My favourite person on the show would be good old Hurley - he is often the peacemaker of the group - ( I loved him after seeing how he was determined to jump-start that VW combo van when all the others said it couldn't be done and that he was crazy ) and he has a fantastic mane of curly hair. What hair type would you call it ? 3a/3b?
I also dig the character of James/or Sawyer because he has a great spirit of resilence, is tough, very intelligent and also does not follow the herd. Great hair too!
Again great show and yet another influence on me to grow my hair long. Here's to more long-hair friendly shows like it!

HAHA! You are right. On the contrary, I have found that several Australian TV programmes that I have seen over the years broadcast in the US have been very good. There used to be some show with Ingo Rademacher in it that was good, and then there was another one that took place in a rural setting that had lots of hot blondes in it.
By the way, I was reading an article in National Geographic about Australia. The situation of water usage in the Murray-Darling basin seems very scary. I hope you guys can get that resolved.
I've never sat down and watched a whole episode of Lost, but what I've seen, I have noticed the long hair. Very pleasing to see such a popular show with all that going on. Though Sawyer does not have super-long hair, he still looks really cool.
