I've been checking up on this site for a couple years now and never really posted much or interacted, and gone through a couple long hair phases along the way. But I've decided to start posting some progress on my journey back into long hairdom if you will. Living in Florida with a hot humid climate, having long hair can be a bit of a pai, but I've set my mind to growing out my mane hoping to achieve some "real" length for the first time. Couple times I tried before I've only made it about a year and a half and just kind of gave up on it, but I've set my mind to it and this time I'm lettin' it grow with no restraints. Anyway here's a picture so people can get an idea of my hair type, which is incredibly thick and somewhat wavy, which gets really bushy and crazy as it grows. But I believe with time and length it will most likely tame itself out a bit, as of now I've only been growing for about 4 months. I plan to keep updating as I go along. Good luck to everyone on their hair goals, keep it growin'.
Greetings Huntarian, welcome to the board. You will get lots of inspiration here and you have a hair type that will look great long. You are off to a good start and keep with it.
Cheers,
Max
Thanks man, I've heard thick hair looks really good when it gets long enough, it just takes a while. I'll definitely be coming here for advice and support.
Hey man,
Good to see another post from you. Just keep coming around here and you'll get plenty of support as you trudge your way through that bad hair phase.
I live in Alabama and it's hot and humid here as well but I've never really been bothered by my hair as summer comes around. It might be because I keep it in a tail at work. But before it gets that long there are a lot of ways to keep sweaty hair from getting in your face. A cap, hair gel, dark hair pins, etc.

Thanks for the support man, I plan on just sticking it out through the awkward phase and maybe wearing a hat if I have to. Can't really stand the look or feel of gel in my hair so my only options are hat, bandanna, or hair tie when it gets long enough. Your hair looks great by the way.

Greetings, Huntarian. Even though your hair is short now, I can see that it is dense and thick. It would be best to just let it grow for the next couple of years, without trims. Thick hair looks spectacular when long. Don't give up this time around, just let it grow.
Scott
Welcome !
...and if you have been reading this board for a while, you know you are at the right place for encouragement as you go through the awkward stage. With your thick, bushy, curly hair and living in Florida, we are looking forward to an "challenging" journey.
Keep us posted (with photos) and do not get discouraged.

Good to hear from you Huntarian, my hair is thick and slightly wavy - makes for great long hair, so stick with it and keep us updated.
With the help of everyone here you will reach longhairdom before you know it, we've all been there before!!
cheers Dave
