Is there anyone who doesn't use conditioner over here?I have been growing for about a year, and i don't use a conditioner, i'm kinda paranoid about the residue and involving more chemicals in my routine. Last time i grew my hair( just 6-7 months) i used to use conditioner, and i guess they did look better. But right now i just use 1-2 drops of oil on the strands while they are still a bit wet so that it spreads evenly. I'm a bit worried about the ends though and all the new growth sticking out doesn't look good(but i'm not sure whether the conditioner can fix that anyway). Opinions?
As I have even stated in one of my long hair videos: "Conditioner is Nectar of the Gods." (Emails received back thank me time and again for saving their hair because they didn't know enough to use conditioner, or they were using some 2 in 1 product that negates the whole routine.)
My hair NEVER could have reached the length it is now without conditioner.
What have you to lose at this point in at least giving conditioner a try? (And, don't forget the spray-in conditioner as well.)

When my hair was chin length and shorter, I didn't use conditioner either. Once your hair gets longer, if you're using shampoo, you don't want to skip conditioner. It's not totally necessary if you're cleaning your hair in some other way, but using shampoo will dry out your hair a lot.

I am with Justin on this one, I never use shampoo, only water and condition once a week, shampoo to me does nothing but bad, it strips natural oils and forces your body over compensate, so you get too much oil, also the chemicals in shampoo are pretty nasty aswell. Conditioner however is a must.
cheers Dave
I couldnt imagine going a week without shampoo. My hair would get all yucky and greasy, so I have to shampoo like at least every coupla days.
I used to think that myself. But what I was actually doing was accelerating the damage and drying of the ends of my hair. Once I started using conditioner that much I started seeing a little relief, but not much. It wasn't until I reduced the shampoo usage to once every 1-2 weeks that I saw the situation start to reverse itself. Even without shampoo for that long but conditioner instead, my hair doesn't get yucky or greasy at all. (and this is from a guy that sweats alot in his sleep)

I do use conditioner and I have to agree with Justin as it certainly helps with longer hair. Look at what a fine head of hair he has.
Cheers,

A while back John.B posted some photos and we got to see his own long hair in full. It is absolutely fantastic and I am sure conditioner was a great help for him in achieving such a gorgeous mane as he has.
If you want the best of long hair, conditioner is a "must."
I must've missed this update...
Hey John, would you mind reposting?

Conditioner is absolutely necessary if you are going to have strong, healthy-looking long hair. I tried going without it for a few months once and ended up with a lot of damage from fighting with all the tangles and knots. Had to cut off about 4 inches to get it looking healthy again. Don't worry about residue or buildup. Just use a clarifying shampoo every now and then and it'll stip off any buildup from the conditioner. BTW, I swear by Pantene. I find it works great.
