Been a lurker for awhile and figured I have a question now so I'm going to post for the first time. I'm starting to grow my hair out for the first time (exciting), but my hair is really thick and wavy and I have a fro when I wake up in the morning. I was just wondering if gravity/eventually will take its course and my hair will start falling down instead of going up. I know I have awhile before it really does anything but I want to make sure. Thanks for the help.
Hey Seminole! Welcome to the board...answer to your question is that yes gravity will always win in the end and you are starting with amazingly thick hair...just be patient, gravity will weigh it down in time. Enjoy your journey and stop by often for more advice/motivation, etc.
Cheers,
Max
Welcome
Gravity will take its course and you will need to be patient. However the one thing that you need to steel yourself for is adverse comments made by the ignorant during this phase. Judicious use of hair spray etc should be thought of. good luck and come back for encouragement - your type of hair looks good when long.
Hey Seminole me and you have the exact same hair type and this is a before and after picture of me , me with short wavy hair and me in March 2009 with 2 years of hair growth- see the difference it will make when you grow yours out! hope this helped bro :)

Greetings, Seminole. Your hair is off to a good start, and don't worry, it will hang down with added length and weight. Hang in there, things will improve. Happy growing.

Hi, Seminole. Applauding for your decision and determination.
Well, no that much wisdom about it, except for give your best and be patient, as it will take at least 1/2 to 2 years until an authentic ponytailable hair. Waviness may be a problem in the start, but, when hair passes ears, it won't "go up" any longer. Also, try to remain deaf to the possible accusations from others; it also may be a problem in the start, but I guess time and your will teach you.
Hello and welcome Seminole, as your hair gets longer it will indeed start to go downwards, so don't worry about that, thick hair is a good thing when growing one's hair anyway.
Good luck on your hair journey!
