I've been a smoker for the last 12 years. My family has had great success with chantix and quitting for good so I want to give it a whirl. Just wanted to see what everyones experience here while taking this medicine and any severe hair loss? Thanks!
I took it for three months and had no problems with my hair. Didn't help in the addiction department either.
Hmmm, you didn't notice any significant hair loss? I'm assuming you have long hair.
I guess chantix works for some people, not all. Dad used to smoke for 43 years, quit with chantix. Wasn't a smooth ride for him per say, no smokes for the last 3 years for him.
I've got no experience with that medicine but I do have experience quiting smoking. I've been a smoker since I was 15/16 and smoked until I was 23.
Last Janaury I quit after reading Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking. This is a very good book to get over the mental addiction which was the hardest part for me, I quit before and never had any problem with the physical addiction but always started to smoke again after a while. After reading this book I'm sure I will never smoke again in my life.
Good luck with quiting and if the medicine doesn't work, try reading this book!
Thanks man, I could use all the advice I can get right now. Like you and many other smokers, I've tried so many times in the past, I've lost count. Can you buy the book at Walmart or a Barnes & Noble or something?
At least you trie it, that's the first step but very important step. If you don't try it you will never succeed.
I don't know where to get it in USA (I live in the Netherlands), I'm sure you can get it in a bookstore or somewhere online.
I found this link from walmart, but that's only for sale online:

Good luck and let me know if it worked for you.
I gave up smoking 3 years ago and did by "cold turkey" and not looked back since :-)
Cheers,

Awesome man, keep it up!
It's funny how some people can do exactly that, and others can barely quit without a major battle. Weird how the mind and body work, sometimes.
That wonderfull, I'm very happy you quit and that is was so easy :)
I also haven't looked back since I stopped beginning this year and I'm very happy that I made the decision :)
I pretty much did the same, however for me quitting was completely unintentional. I had started working out on a regular basis and had no plan of quitting smoking anytime soon. But as my workout routine progressed and got more involved, my smoking decreased until one day I realised that I hadn't lit one up for about 3 days so I just threw what I had left out. Because of my workout goals of achiving a better more fit body, and in the process my body was getting rid of the toxins, I just lost the desire. That was 8 years ago. Not only have I not looked back, but I had no struggles with stopping. I didn't go through the three weeks of withdrawals.
