How has growing your hair long changed your life?
When I was young I thought when I grew up I would have a long beard and long hair. The long beard part happened in my 20's but the courage to grow my hair fell by the wayside. Then Life threw me a curve ball and the opportunity arose where I had to grow my hair long. At first I struggled and fought aganst the radical change but then I grew to accept it as a part of who I really am. The Universe began to reward me in ways beyond my wildest dreams for doing what I was suppose to do, for being the ultimate hairy man I was meant to be. Oh, if I had only listened to my instincts years ago I can only imagine how much more blessed and hairy I'd be today.
I'd like to read why you 'had' to grow your hair long.
Anyway, I'm not sure if it changed my life per se, but for me it's more like me becoming who I felt I really was. Even from a little guy (I'm talking about 4 or 5 here) I knew that I didn't want my hair to be cut, ever. But that was not an option allowed for me.

Daniel:' I really understand the "Wasn't an option" part of you
response. There are so many limitations put upon us especially when we are young. We get too a point where we either conform or rebel. I tried to conform but it made me unhappy with who I was. So I grew out my beard and left the hair short as a sort of compromise.
Five years ago I was hired as an actor on the HBO series Deadwood. I signed a contract which stated I wouldn't cut my hair or shave for the durration of the shoot. At the end of the
first season, I was released from the contract. I was on my way out the door to get my hair cut when the phone rang and I was hired to do a movie. I asked the director if I should cut my hair and he said NO. I figured another two months without a haircut wouldn't hurt so I signed yet another No cut contract. The shoot lasted 4 years and my hair became VERY long. The day after the film was wrapped I was hired for another film which required the longer hair. Since then I've been working steady
due to the long hair long besard combo. Currently I'm working 6 movies, a reality TV series and a half dozen commercials. If I had known the big HAIRY hulk type was so popular II would have grown it all out years ago.
K
Kai,
Being bearded and long-haired certainly has changed my life. I seem to have established an "identity" for myself. People always instantly remember me when they have met me before. I did play the role of a "clairvoyant psychic hippie" as part of a GoGame team building event that was held in downtown Dallas last February.

Not being an "extrovert outgoing" type of person, having the hair/beard seems to attract interesting people to me, that I might otherwise miss out on meeting. It is almost like my "business card".
