Hey everyone !
Last week I bought a (cheap) gel with wet effect, just to try out how my hair's gonna look like. I wanted to buy it, cause i've been told several times that gel reduces puffiness. I've been growing out my hair for almost 11 months now and it's still looking awkward and puffy looking. However that gel actually helped me a bit. It's not that good and the "wet" effect is only for an hour, but my hair now doesn't looks as puffy as before. So is it okay using it every day ? Do you think it could cause damage ?
Hope you're all having a great weekend ;)

This is my third attempt at growing my hair out and never having gotten beyond the awkward stage previously, this was often a question I asked others.
The first thing that most guys seem to agree on is that aside from dying/ironing/chemically treating/yanking/otherwise abusing your hair, you can - and maybe should, depending on circumstances & desire - use whatever seems necessary to control your hair. More than a few guys have posted how gel was their constant companion in the first year or so.
That said, read the ingredients. Most gels and mousse products DON'T use alcohol, but double check. Chemicals=damage.
I've tried several different product types and generally stick with mousse. It can keep hair somewhat manageable without causing the weird feeling of plastic hair. But to each their own.
Whatever you use, you'll probably want to wash your hair a little more frequently to avoid buildup of your product in the hair.
Good luck and stick with it. I'm not through it myself, but I hear that the awkward stage eventually ends!

Thanks a lot, Jacob !
Well then, guess i'll stick with it. It doesn't contain alcohol luckily.
I've been growing out my hair for almost 11 months already and yes, the awkwardness just doesn't want to go away ! Sometimes I succeed to make my hair look neat, BUT only sometimes. Most of the time it looks pretty messy, no matter what i do.
However, I really hope that around the 18 month we'll be out of this rediculous awkward period.
Since when you're growing your hair again ?
Cheers !

I re-started in about December. So only about four month's growth here, but I've got nothing but time....
I've gotten to about 10 months - remember that well... poofiness galore! Gel or mousse was the only solution that seemed to work for me. But with just a few months left until the year & a half point, I think you'll be pleased with the end result.
