When I was a little kid, my parents always made me keep my hair very short. Around late 2007, shortly before I turned 20, I decided to start growing my hair out, mostly for the purposes of getting cornrows (something I really wanted at the time). Even after I got tired of the cornrows, I still wanted to keep growing my hair.
My hair is EXTREMELY curly, so it doesn't quite give an accurate depiction of how long my hair really is, but it comes down to my shoulders when straightened. I thought about getting my hair relaxed, but now I'm starting to really like my curls.
What do you all think?
Hi Marcus,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and I am glad that you shared your update with us. You are blessed with outstanding curls, and my opinion is to let them grow naturally, since long, curly hair really does look awesome.
Welcome aboard,
David
Welcome.
Keep the curls at all costs, The obvious one is that relaxing the hair with chemicals or even with a straightening tool is bad for your hair. The overwhelming reason is that curls look absolutely brilliant and suit me very well. Yours are looking god so keep growing.
Hey Marcus. You should definately keep it natural and let it grow for another couple years.
With your hair type it takes a while for it to "look" long.
It looks great now and would look even better in 1-3 years!
Keep it growing, man.
The curls look perfect on you! I wouldn't do a thing but just let it grow as is.
It looks good natural. I have to admit that one of my heroes is Jimi Hendrix, though!
Looks great Marcus!
It is nice to see you guys with the super fine curls growing it out. It is a test of patience, and it sure looks great when you get there!

Greetings, Marcus. Your hair is off to a great start. Extreme curls need a lot of length to look really long. It will take quite awhile, but you will probably have tight curled hanging ringlets at some point in the future. Treat you hair gently, curly hair is fragile. Keep it growing.

Me, too!!
I agree with what the others have already said: that to keep your hair natural is the best way to go. I can't tell you how many times I've read here how somebody had either straightened, permed, dyed, or bleached their hair, --- only to have to eventually cut it all off, due to those chemicals injuring and weakening the natural hair. Plese, DON'T do it... As good-old Nancy Reagan used to say, "Just say no!" (LOL)
You look good just the way you are!
