I like the look of half ponytails but I'm having some trouble tying one. A couple hairs get added to my small tail every time I double my hairband-that makes taking the hair tie out kinda painful and breaks hairs (my hair is dry when I tie it).
How do u go about tying a half ponytail?
They make plenty of hair clips for girls, but the ones I've seen are metal. It seems like those would work better than hair ties-but do they damage hair? Anyone ever see any manly hair clips?
Marty
I know exactly what you mean. I also like to wear my hair in a half ponytail, as it is fancier and makes more of a statement than a run of the mill low tail, yet it still looks masculine, and still allows part of the hair to flow wild and free. You have to do them slowly and carefully. Make sure that only the portion of your hair that you want in the tail is in it before you start. Hold your tail in one hand, then run a wide tooth detangling comb around the sides and toward the back of your head. Usually at the level of just above the ear is good. Hold the comb so that the teeth are parallel to the floor and perpindicular to the side of your head. So actually, only the edge of the comb touches your head. Then push the comb around lengthwise from front to back, then the hair that it frees from your tail can be combed straight down to get it out of the way. When twisting your tie, make sure that you keep the tie above the loose hair so as to avoid accidentaly catching it in the tie as you secure your tail. When you remove it, try pulling just one loop off first. Kind of like going in reverse with the tie. Then the rest will come out more easily and with less damage. Like most things in life, practice makes perfect.
Thanx for the advice on how to tie it! Did u ever try one of the metal hair clips? Where do u get some for guys?
Marty
No, I've never seen any clips for men. I will try them though if I ever find some.
