Hi, I wonder if anyone know how to make dreads by yourself (I sadly don't have any money to go to a hairdresser) and I also wonder how long my hair has to be in order to make them. My hair is currently about 15 centimetres long (almost shoulder lenght, about 6 inches long)

You should be able to start your dreads if you have at least 6 inches of hair, but don't expect them to "hang" until they get a foot long or so. For the best tips on the web regarding dreadlocks, check out the Dread Head HQ (click the link below).

Dread Head HQ
As an x Dreadhead i can understand the passion.
But stay away from sites like DreadHeadHQ and the likes all they do is try and sell there products that are a nightmare for your hair.
Example.. They promote the use of wax which is a huge no no, sure it makes the dread neat at the time but in the long run it builds up inside the dread and is near on impossible to remove.
The locking process of dreadlocks is slowed down by wax. It doesn't actualy lock on the inside if wax is in use. You just end up with a head of candles.

They'll see you right, but its your hair do with it what you please. Dreadlocks can be removed no matter what people say but they do damage the hair badly when out. So if your gonna fully commit go for it. But if you think you might wanna go back to having your hair long, stay clear.
Peace.

Hi Fluffy,
What I have hear is that dredlocks is the natural state of human hair. If you don't comb it then it will grow into dredlocks. This is the dreds that are in the big clumps.
What most dredheads have now is the twisted dredlocks. In my opinion, very cool.
Here is a good link that not only tells you how to start your dreds but debunks the myths and rumors about them.
