Hi everyone,
I started growing my hair about six months ago. It's growing really well for most of my head - but, my temples are another story...
Does anyone else find that they get thin hair around their temples that doesn't grow very long? The hair must have weak roots in that area or something; even when I lightly pull there I end up with about five or six hair in my hand. Everywhere else my hair is abnormally strong and thick, which makes it even stranger!
It's the kind of thing you'd expect from someone who doesn't eat well, but my diet isn't even that bad! I've thought as well that it might be that my glasses are rubbing that area - the hair /is/ shortest where my frames sit - but I honestly have no clue, and internet searches aren't turning much up. Has anyone ever heard of this?
I think this is common with guys really. The hair right around the area you mention has never gotten as long as the rest with me, and I have heard others mention this. I think it has something to do with the slight amount of male pattern baldness that most every guy, except Ron Blagojevich, experiences. A mature male hairline is a little further back around the entire front, forehead, temples, etc., thus a little shorter in length capacity. I wear glasses too, and I don't think this is the culprit. My hair right in front of the ears has never gotten but about 8 inches long.
I think you might be right about the balding. Oh well! Your hair looks great with the same problem, so at least I know it _is_ possible for me to grow long hair :-P
Lol, I like Rod Blagojevic's symbolism in the means of PLENTY of hair. Btw, I'd never like to have such a thick hair, be it useful or not.
I have the same issue, different location--for me, the hair right in the center of my forehead. It's thinner, lighter, and strangely enough, curlier. While it may not be common, having different hair textures on your head is not unheard-of.

Chris, I think you're right; it sounds like you've got the same thing in a different area. That rules out the glasses, anyway, so I guess it must be the balding, like Matt B. said.
How long did it take you to get your hair as long as in the photo, out of interest? That's how long I'm thinking of growing mine.
I think it was at 14 months or thereabouts. I don't remember exactly when the pic was taken but it was after new years this year.
