Got my first pair of glasses yesterday by order of doctor, picked out a frame that i felt suited me, and then when i put them on...
Everything was as clear far away as it was up close, i never realized i was seeing life that way due to my lack of glasses.
Couldnt stop grinning looking around all the way home.
Congratulations !
I get that same wonderful feeling every time I get new glasses.
Not to mention, I think glasses look cool !!

Yeah, it was like a baby discovering the new world, i was looking around with a big grin on my face all the way home, noticing how much clearer and more lifelike and fascinating everything around me has become =]
Yeah, i like the look my glasses give me, makes me look very sophisticated actually.
So do I, so much so that I feel "cursed" with 20/20 vision. I try frames on for fun every now and then at Lenscrafters. What a dork I am.

Heh, yeah, I got my glasses a few years ago, having the same problem. I can read fine, but at a distance...not a chance. I was like a baby discovering the world once again...your post brings back good memories.
Only last visit to the opticians I was told I was "of that age" when I need glasses. So far I'm long sighted so it's small writing on tins and packages that make me squint. They reckon I would only need them if I get headaches, but I can still read a computer screen.

Remember the feeling when I got my glasses about 11 years ago.
I still have the same pair, luckily my eyes stay about the same.
I only have to wear them for driving or watching tv, but sometimes I wear them all day and I do notice the change!
It is a really cool feeling to see clearly again. I remember feeling the same way a long time ago when I first got some glasses. Now it's just put them on and see versus not see much at all without, I don't even think about it.
Right there with you man. I'm also nearsighted but I wear contacts.
I have wore glasses since the 7th grade and have always hated them so I only put them on for driving or watching tv.
When I finally decided to start wearing contact lenses I have to say that I was disappointed. The first time in my life I was able to see the expressions of people at a distance. They all seemed angry (not at me, just in general) and it was actually very disturbing. A lot of people are pissed off most of the time, I never realized it before. Weird huh?

Yeah i know what you mean, everywhere you look theres people looking like they are just not having a good time, i noticed that even before i had glasses, i used to kind of be like that but it was just a phase, now id say i just have typical on/off depression/elation
hormones *shrug*
Nice to see again I'll bet!
I am mildly nearsighted and have eyeglasses that I usually wear when I'm outside. Although I can do fine without them, I feel "naked" when I go out without them. My corrected vision is better than 20/20 - close to 20/10. The lenses are photochromatic (darken in sunlight) safety glass (real glass - not plastic).
I also use reading glasses when I'm working on electronics or other tasks I need to see up close.
It's also added eye protection while soldering and snipping wires/leads.
