Hey guys, sorry its been so long since i posted on here, i do still visit pretty much every day and read all the post, school has just been so crazy but now that its out i should have more free time :D
Anyways, my question is this, i go to put my hair in a ponytail, and when i first put it up, it is pretty high or at least around the middle of my head. But after a few hours, the ponytail has moved all the way down to the base of my head... is this normal? or is there anything i can do to make sure the ponytail stays up higher on my head throughout the day??
thanks guys
Quite normal. Sounds like you need another loop out of what you have. If you are moving around a lot, though, there are may be some better solutions. Here are a couple examples that I personally own: (Second site is flash-only, grr!)

On the first site, the bands are flat and thick instead of round. This helps considerably. On the second site, note the StayPut series. These have little rubber grips that hold the hair in place without slipping.
I use the flat ones normally and rubber grip ones for exercising. Both are working great.
Hope that helps. Good luck with your hair!
Hey, thanks for the info.
i just have some regular old hair bands i got from walmart, so i will deff. look into these kinds.

You may need to tie that hair band with 3 instead of 2 loops. I recently tried that and it holds better. Be careful on how tight that 3rd loop is, to avoid pulling on your hair. (A slightly larger hair band wrapped thrice may be better that a smaller one wrapped twice.)
I recommend using soft cloth hair bands with no metal in them.
I have also used 2 hair bands looped twice intertwined, one on top of the other. That also will hold better than only one band looped twice. (See image)

I agree Scott, I just switched to a larger band (2 3/4in) and loop it 3 times. A better hold and more comfortable.

cool, i will try a larger band and wrapping it three times, thanks for the help
Thanks Scott, I had not thought about doing a third loop, I will try it out and see how that works.
and dont worry, my hairbands dont have metal in them :)
Scott/JMPAH,
I have been doing exactly what Scott does in the picture ever since he mentioned this several months back. This has worked perfect for me. Holds well all day and all night without pulling hair.
I usually keep my hair in a multi-segment tail like Scott's 24 hours a day, "refreshing" the tail each morning when I get up. What's it gonna be today? ...rainbow colors, alt black/white, random... ...
Whatever type of hair band you use, look for ones that will stretch to at least twice their unstretched diameter. These are are much easier to wrap multiple times.

Ok thanks, i will deff. look for those when i go to get some new hair bands!
