I've read here and elsewhere that one of the best hair brushes you can buy is one with wood bristles mounted in rubber. The wood glides through your hair better than plastic; the rubber allows the bristles to flex, preventing a lot of pull outs. But I can't seem to find one anywhere! Does anyone know of a place where I can order one? Thanks!
Steve
My advice is to forget about it. Unless the bristles are made of an extremely fine grained wood (ironwood comes to mind), you will do more damage to your hair with a wooden brush. Why? The fibers in the wood will scratch your hair.
I bought a wooden brush a year or two ago, and I still have it (minus one bristle, which broke). I got it at Whole Foods Market. You can probably find it at most stores that carry a variety of natural products. I also got a wooden comb at the same place, which was even worse. That being said, I had my hair braided at a local festival, and the lady who braided my hair used a wooden pick. It worked very well in my hair. I asked where she got it, and she said it was homemade by a friend of hers.

Well I swear on wooden brushes and comb's, but I agree, that you should
watch carefully what you buy there is a lot of cheap and unusable stuff
around!
My comb is made of Teak (upps another rainforrest killer)
the brush I use is made of bright soft wood (I broke one pin of mine too!)
You can differ good and worse brushes very easyly: scrub the pins
over your arm if it doesnt hurt at all you found the right!
Wooden BRUSHES and COMB's RULES !!
Sure, I can tell you where to get a hair brush. At any of probably 500 drug stores in your town. And by the way, can anyone here tell me where I can get a gallon of milk?
