My wife told me when I started growing my hair long that she hated long haired men with stringy hair. She told me the secret is to used a curling iron. I use the curling iron every morning. I divide my long hair into 2 halfs and use the curling iron on each half for 30 seconds. It does not create a curl...just smooths out the hair and gives it a nice appearance.
Anyone else use a curling iron?
Well I've never tried the curling iron but I used to straighten my hair with flat iron.
I don't know if the curling iron is as hot as the straightening flat iron but I would recommend you to stop using it. Or atleast not as often. It does damage the hair and It'll make your hair dryish and you'll get split ends.
However if you have trouble with "stringy" hair, there are products to help I think.
What is your hair type anyway ?
Cheers
Luben
My hair was blonde that has darkened over time, so it is the normal blonde thin strand hair. It is not thick and makes a pretty skinny braid.
I don't use the curling iron daily, but if we are dressing up for an evening out and I am going to wear my hair down (not in the normal ponytail), it does add the body that I normally lack.
And my wife is not as harsh as I may have made her sound. She is my partner and best friend. I am one of those lucky guys that got to marry their best friend.
The hair photo in the first picture was after using a curling iron. This picture is without the curling iron.
Can somone name some of the products that help with stringy hair.
Is hairspray bad ? Seems to help with fine hair to bind the thin hairs to each other so they don't fly around so much.
Over time it will dry your hair and you'll see damage start to
develop. Some use them and have no issues (so they say), Just
keep an eye on things.
I wonder what your wife would say if you didn't like something
about her appearance. Perhaps she's got a good attitude and
wouldn't be bothered but most women would not like it. Funny how
many wives or girlfriends can dish it out but god help you if you dish it back. LOL
We see this from time to time, the female half of the
relationship trying to mold the male half into their idea of what
a man should look like. Luckily most on here have partners who
are supportive.

I can see it now :D
"Hunny you know your starting to look wide for the back lately. But guess what? You wanna know what the secret is.. Yes a stairmaster for two hours a day"
Don't think we'd get away with it huh?
Reminds me of the bride's litany: "Aisle, altar, him."
(Say it out loud if you don't get it.)
I've never used a curling iron, but I have used a flat iron and gotten similar results.
From what I can tell, they're best used sparingly, so I save it for parties, special occasions and the like.
Your hair looks nice from the back.
Chris
Thank you for your input guys.
Think I will save the curling iron for special occassions.
I appreciate the input.
Hey -
Use a curling iron or comb every morning. Have stick straight hair. Use them to add just wave and to help control stray hairs. Shampoo and condition every day so the heat hasn't hurt my hair and I have confirmation of that from a friend who is a salon owner. Love the effect but then I love look.
I have a cousin who straightens her hair daily, and it looks great. However, she keeps her hair maintained at shoulder length. If you aspire to grow longer than that, then you aren't cutting off the damage that it causes over time. Straightening actually gives the illusion of length, but if you want it really long it isn't the way to go.
