Not all businessmen have short hair or even wear a tie as this article stipulates.
check out the link and read about a Man who stood his ground.
can anyone think of any other well known successful Longhaired businessmen?
Well, I'm not as successful as the guy in the article, but if it's about good news about long haired men at work, I have a pretty good job myself. I am the General Manager of a medium sized manufacturing facility that makes rubber products for aerospace and industrial applications. It's a conservative industry, so I have to pony my hair for work, but I've been able to keep it long (a little past my shoulders the last time I checked)
BTW, I won't list my salary, but it is enough to support me and my Ebay addiction, and that's good as far as I'm concerned. ;-)
Let's hear from other long hairs who are successful! This board needs a pick up!
The Rev
I am a successful in business. I am a Designer in a large company, I also have business interests that I run and I am involved politically in the area and have and have some loyal supporters and have a strong voice with our local officals and how they decide policy. And I don't plan on cutting my hair anytime soon nor have I been asked. Some said that if I cut it off I would loose some of my image that has been built over the years.
That makes two longhairs (this one being a civil engineer with a pony
most of the time) who manage to support themselves and thier ebay
habit (glad to hear I'm not the only one).
If you jugde success by money, then I'm questionable. I'm a Science teacher with a MEd +20. I love what I do and involved with many professional organizations. My wife is also a longhaired Science teacher. Together we do quite well!(Well enough to support our hobby...our baby!)
I'm an engineer with a Fortune Top 25 company. I occassionally get comments on the length of my hair, but more importantly, I get comments on the work I do (almost always positive).
As an engineer, I'm not 'rich', but I do earn enough to keep a roof over my head in an upscale neighborhood. Plus, I have money to spend on my sport motorcycles and a large model railroad.
I am a Designer for a large company, I have my own business interests and am involved politically in my community. I have many business friends, contacts and loyal political supporters. I also have a strong vioce in directing policy in my local government. I have no plans to cut my hair nor have I been asked. some have said I would loose some of my image as people know me now if I did. My salary is in the top 5% of wages in this country and I am happy with who I am, which is more important then the money. Just a longhair success story you might like to hear.
The best part of this is the fact that he refuses, like myself, to wear that bane of western civilization, the necktie!
Go dude!

I'm with you there dude.
any businessmen out there with long hair who don't wear ties?
The auto industry (ie: Big 3) has been 'business casual' for years. Nice pants, no jeans, nice shirt, no 'T' shirts, and NO TIES. Anybody wearing a tie is thought to be interviewing for a new position.
