Hi everyone, Thanks for all the support you have given me. My hair is slowly coming along and I will post a picture soon. My hair is around 4 inches long all over and I love it. I am going to the beach in a few weeks and I really wanted my cousin to braid cornrows into my hair for it. I think it would be neat and its a chance to wear some braids. Has anyone ever done this before and does my hair sound long enough? What is it like? Thanks.
Well if you've never done it before and have been wanting to try it, I see give it a go. Just talk to your cousin before hand about possible troubles, because I'm not sure if your hair is long enough for cornrows. I hope it works though, upload pics if it does!

My hair is near my shoulder blades now, haven't really got a number I can tell you though. I'll post up a pic now.
If nothing else just make sure the braids aren't too tight.

I'm tempted to get mine done but I dunno if I could handle it, kinda get judged being a white guy with cornrows I imagine!
I think it's a great idea to experiment with your hair. I've done cornrows three times in the two years that i've been growing out my hair, and get positive comments all the time. However, I will advise you against getting them braided too tight. Not only can this cause headaches, but it can also cause accelerated hair loss. I myself had a post-cornrows hair loss scare (you can check my post on 05/24), but am back to normal now. Cornrows are a fun hairstyle, but make sure they are done right, and not kept in too long. and as for length; the rule of thumb I always knew for cornrows was: If pulled down, your hair passes your eyebrow, then you're good to go. You seem good to go at 4 inches.
Be carefull with Cornrows. A close friend of mine and a band mate got his done. It was good, but he mentioned a lot of itching. They suggest you oil your scalp. Also remember that it can also damage your hair.
