For the past 2 months or so, I've had an itchy and sore red rash around my nose, that flakes and is just generally disgusting. It came right at the time I was most confident (my hair was pretty awesome, and I was taking care of my appearance properly for the first time in my 15 years) and then suddenly this appeared, and completely knocked my confidence. I'm finding myself with my head straight down whenever i'm with people, I don't want to look them in the face because of what they might think.
Does anyone know anything about this, or even have it themselves?
Hmm, I have no idea what it could be. I suggest seeing a dermatologist or a family doctor and finding out. It might just be a rash that doesn't go away because you might be touching and irritating it too much. Or it can be an infection of some sort. Best of luck.

Sounds like seborrheic dermatitis to me. If it is, it ought to respond to low-dose over-the-counter (1/2 % or 1%)hydrocortisone cream and/or over-the-counter ketoconazole (Nizoral) shampoo used for a couple weeks, then tapered to once or twice a week. Be aware it often recurs.
Try using nothing but water on your face for a week. No soap, no shaving cream, no toothpaste, etc. If it goes away, you're probably allergic to something that you've been using. The dermatologist may just make a guess and give you something to put on it which will help temporarily or make it worse. I was given HC cream and ketoconazole for seb derm when I really just had an allergy. I ended up with impetigo because of the treatment.
Why not go and see your Doctor promptly rather than consult a web board about hair? That way you may well find a cure properly.
I'd recommend going to see a doctor (obviously). But maybe this link will help:

Thanks guys.
I fully intended to go to the doctors (went this morning). I wanted to know if anyone had any past experience to be hones.t
The Dermatologist told me what I had was Seb. Dermatitis. Sounds like what you described. Unfortunately, no cure, told me best thing was Hydrocortizone cream for the affected area. I felt like you do for a while at first, but don't let it get you down. I mainly try to avoid wearing red shirts as that seems to bring it out more being able to see it in my face. I just usually tell people was out in the sun a bit too long the day before and that seems to end the conversation. And make sure to wash your face with something hypo-allergenic with no dyes or fragrance. Soap tends to make mine itch more. Chin up bud, things could be worse... good luck to you.
